State Controller Kathy Augustine is seeking to cut by two thirds the $15,000 fine she received last year after admitting to three ethics violations.

The Nevada Commission on Ethics will consider the request at a hearing April 13 in Henderson.

Augustine admitted to the commission she used state employees and equipment to run her 2002 reelection campaign, which resulted in the largest fine ever levied by the panel.

Those charges also were the basis of the state’s first impeachment trial.
