List of state and national actions needed to keep our votes safe
Maybe I missed it but do we yet have an action plan? We have threads documenting FraWd. We have threads talking about how it was done. We need a thread or five about all the bases we need to cover to get back our votes. Gmoses has a good start with the registration discussion. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x342995

Can we get a pamphlet going on safeguards needed?

1. Are there any good voting companies we can get behind?
Do we have a list of companies that meet our criteria for voter verifiable, tabulator secure companies that we can promote? Do we have sample legislation that we can give to state and federal legislators to use as templates? Other ideas?

2. action items central
if you want action items, here you go:

http://www.solarbus.org/election/links.shtml#action

there are specific items and also links to all the websites listing action items.

I'm sad to say though, that the reality is that the action items we have now are not enough to fix the system. They mostly focus on national legislation. None of the bills prevent unverified computer voting, so we have to look elsewhere if we really want a fair election next time.

IMHO, the best action item going right now is the Divestment Campaign run by Velvet Revolution. It is aimed at the voting machine companies. It could really force some changes if enough people do it.

The other good stuff happening is the state level legislation that's being proposed. In CA, GA and few others people are proposing legislation that is much more thorough and effective than any of the national bills.

keepin' the faith,
gary

3. Thanks Gary! I think we need to build the country we want to see
I'm hoping that we can create a clear vision of what needs to happen to make the next election viable and transparent and start creating it. If you believe state legislation is our most effective tool then let's give strike teams the packets to hit all 50 states.

Your website is GREAT by the way. I just think we have done a lot to document FraWd and need to focus a bit more on our national vision of the immediate fix.
