Let's not forget the history of voting in the south.
This isn't something neccessarily wrong with southern people, there are alot of indications that thier system is institutionally biased still through more subtle means than the past but it could have a big influence on things.

Until we can rule out massive vote tampering in the South we cant even say that we know they did go for Bush.

1. And please dont take this as an attack on the south, it is a defense.
It isnt the people's fault that there is a strong institutional history of vote tampering especially relating to race.

2. I live in the deep South
Ignorance - real, bona fide ignorance about political fact - is epidemic.

It is not stereotyping to call a spade a spade; they (* supporting folks) do not know how to think critically here, but instead are reactionary.

Their decisions on based on belief (but held as certainty), not reasoning.

3. For all the Southern Bravado
They are scared easily. The Republican fearmongering of gays, communists, terrorists, etc works well.

5. There is a lot of ignorance about politics....
it will probably remain that way until repug politics
hurts them so deeply that the pain will make them switch.
So far they seem to be enduring the economic pain rather
well....go figure.
