The Reality-Based approach to future elections...
...We keep feeling that the Republicans have so sucessfully rigged the vote (and will continue to do so) that nothing will ever change.

...WRONG!

...Welcome to electoral politics in the 21st century. We can beat them at this game people. If the tabulators are so easy to hack...hack the fuckers. If the exit polls show a smashing dem win...MAKE SURE THEY ARE RIGHT...and much sweeter if the polls show a narrow republican win coming make sure that somehow, mysteriously, all the Dems won the races they were projected to lose. Our response to that..."Get over it".

...Lastly, If we refuse to play the game with today's rules, and let me be clear here...HE WHO CHEATS BEST WINS (and has for a decade), we ARE irrelevant. If we don't have the candidates with the cajones to cry fraud when it is so obviously the case, we will lose now, tommorow, the next time and the next until the Dems go the way of the Whigs.

...Think about it. No way the nightmare in Washington is legitimate. We owe it to America to win and set things right. We can afford to be righteous...AFTER we control the WH, Senate, House, Media, and the Judiciary.

And remember...

...The Dems didn't drag this down into the sewer, the Republicans did. We need to climb out of that electoral sewer by any means possible.

...so before all the flames and hand-wringing over legal niceties ask yourselves if they stole the last three election cycles (or more)how long do we want to be vicitms? There is no white-hatted rangers who are going to ride in and save our democracy. We have to do this ourselves. Don't kid yourselves, we are in a political guerilla war and we have been losing soldiers, and generals for a long time with out realizing it.

The other side holds the White House, the Senate, the House, the Media and the Judiciary by using the very means we decry. After all Gentlemen don't cheat. Well look around at the dry drunk and his band of boobs. You folks see any gentlemen there?

2. So instead of prosecute your method is....
Cheat back and forcefully put our represenatives into public office? If one does that, there is no hope for reform. They will turn around and cheat even worse, and democracy will become destroyed for good.

It's a much more advisable decision to investigate, litigate, and throw people in jail by any means neccesary. At the state level slowly verified paper ballots are becoming STANDARD. You don't leave the issue alone and suddenly decide to go marching after something else, you fight the war until it is won.

When election reform is finished and VVPBs are standard, then one can stop the fight and leave on to something else.

3. Problem is...
...none of those scenarios are happening.

...There are no referees, no substantive investigations, no sympathetic judges, no news coverage, and we keep losing. When is legislation going to pass for VVPB with the system working so well for the Republicans JUST THE WAY IT IS? Answer...NEVER. And with more theft in 2006 the majorities will become super-majorities.

...Can't you see.

...Their stratagy to hijack this country is working to a tee, while we continue to fight the good fight with antiquated tools such as fund raising, GOTV, caucusing, etc. etc, etc. We still lose even when we win those fights, look to Florida, Ohio, Nevada...Hell look everywhere. They just change a few lines of tabulator code, flip some votes, and all those blood, sweat, and tears of effort are wiped out.

...It is all about ones and zeroes. Whe republicans have been getting the ones and Dems have been getting the zeroes.

...No, I respect your comments and concerns, but we are past that now. This is a fight for political life. We must use the tools available to us not the dreams of justice and a fair playing field, as those things don't exist.

4. Not true....
Just because you don't hear about it on the news don't ever assume it isn't happening, that's how easy it is to get distracted.

Pennsylvania, Montana and soon Tennessee have already mandated VVPB. It IS happening, at the local and state level, and continues to happen if the people work at that level.

There are investigations shooting up everywhere. However, with the media entirely controlled by those engaging the fraud there is no chance of actual coverage.

Media reform though IS happening, the conference was just today. To suggest hacking and fighting the elections the same way, when so many things are now shooting up, is a foolish and ultimately dead end conclusion.

Electoral reform WILL become a central issue and hit everyone's face. By the new reformed media, which is currently being built.

5. When we get in power we institute all-paper, all-hand-counted
voting; it wouldn't make it impossible for repukes to steal it back, but it would be a lot harder than it is now.

7. I've actually wondered whether this is why Kerry & other Dems have been so
silent.

However, I couldn't condone this route, personally. It's kinda like becoming a terrorist to fight the terrorists -- there are usually unintended consequences.
