Buzzflash: Rep. McKinney (D-GA) Discusses Hack as Diebold Flips Out
Interesting how our black leaders catch onto voting fraud much quicker than the white folks...

Rep. McKinney (D-GA) Discusses Hack as Diebold Flips Out

A BUZZFLASH GUEST CONTRIBUTION
by Matthew Cardinale
June 29, 2005

"The bottom line is we can't trust the machines, and we can't trust the results being told to the American people," U.S. Rep. Cynthia McKinney (D-GA) said in a phone interview for the progressive news community, adding "we are planning some as-yet-undefined events in district" around the issue.

The problem, the Congresswoman said, is that the machines "haven't been provided with appropriate software and safeguards. If they had the appropriate software and safeguards, then the machines wouldn't be a problem. So either that, or go back to paper ballots," she advised.

Rep. McKinney, along with Rep. Corrine Brown (D-FL), had been on hand for a hack demonstration in the Leon County Elections Office, in Florida, in May 2005. The demo was one of three meetings that had been organized by Bev Harris and the team at Black Box Voting. Diebold has since issued a vitriolic letter to Mr. Ion Sancho, Leon County Elections Supervisor, for allowing Black Box Voting to conduct the hack demo on site.

Mr. Sancho defended his actions in a phone interview and explained his concerns regarding electronic voting...

1. Diebold: That's our secret backdoor, proprietary code
How dare an Elections Supervisor have an independent test of security!

Funny how Republicans and other crooks get angry or pouty when you don't take them at their word.

2. Go, Cynthia!
It's so amazing to hear a Democrat speaking the truth about these machines!

We don't expect Bushites to speak the truth--about anything, ever. And true Republicans seem content to wallow in Bush fat, clap on cue, and remain silent about trillion dollar deficits, state religion and disastrous foreign adventures. And about partisan control of the vote count with "trade secret," proprietary software. They like corporations having "trade secrets"--even voting as a "trade secret," if it keeps those tax breaks for the rich coming.

But Democrats. DEMOCRATS--keeping silent with all this going on, the destruction of the very foundation of democracy. DEMOCRATS feasting with Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia at the Beverly Hilton!

So--go, Cynthia! Speak truth! Tell it! It is so refreshing!

10. I've thought the same thing about the black leaders catching on faster.
Hmmm....what do you suppose that means? Who has more to gain from e-voting fraud?

In Georgia, the polls have always indicated that the African American community has NEVER trusted these machines and the polls have shown it consistently.

2003 Georgia poll:
Poll results clearly indicate, however, that a large gap remains in the confidence level between races. For example, 79 percent of Whites report being very confident that their ballot was accurately recorded, while only 40 percent of Blacks share this same certainty.

2005 Georgia poll:
Although confidence levels are generally high, they are much higher for whites than for nonwhites. Seventy-six percent of whites are very confident that their votes were accurately counted, compared with only 39 percent of nonwhites.
