I predict no one will ever buy a Sequoia Advantage again. Decertication:

Is coming. My LAwyer met with the NJ Attorney Generals director of HAVA yesterday, the AG staffer and the Deputy AG was there. THey were told that before the poop hits the fan they should move to save the NJ HAVA plan and the NJ voting machine certification process.

Furthermore: We had our voting machines demo today in Essex County NJ and only 3 of 6 vendors showed up. Sequoia did not bring the prototype of the expanded full face Edge --- but they brought the Advantage DRe and EDGe DRE. Liberty brought their 2002 certified Full face DRE with VVPR printer and Avante brought their full face DRE with VVPR printer. thats was it.

While the Sequoia rep was showing a wheelchair voter the equipment I walked up the Advantage and measured it. I had already printed out the wheelchair spec and guess what?

The Advantage touchscreen is 10 inches too high, In the vertical position. The maximum is 48".
The Advantage doesn't even come close no matter how it is adjusted the best it can do is about 53 inches. If it is adjusted to lean back the the spec calls for a max of 46" high.

This means that since HAVA mandates handicapped access under section 301------ the advantage is not HAVA compliant ----
--SO it cant be used in a federal election
-- it is not eligible for HAVA funds

You can start writing your eulogies for the Advantage.

1. You should research the Sequoia and the Nevada story...
and how we got fucked while our Secretary of State was shown on the Sequoia website promoting their wonderful machines.

3. Sounds like it should be called the Dis-Advantage!
Does NJ really have a full-face ballot law Foger?

I thought we in NY were the only ones smart enough to keep that.
There was actually a bill to do away with it that didn't pass.
It was in BOTH houses of the legislature too! WONDER WHY?

We couldn't get a paper ballot Op Scan bill in both houses, yet someone thought it was important enough to have page-turning DREs!
I hope it doesn't get resurrected in the next session of the legislature.
