"The country has not recovered from the last two elections." I had
dinner with someone yesterday who, in the course of the conversation, said that. And it is so true. America has not recovered from these stolen elections. Nor, as someone else at dinner pointed out, has the rift between Americans begun to heal. Thanks to the real terrorists (Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove and Rice). I just thought I would share this exchange as we are here, nearly 10 months later still left with the fallout of this evil regime. Still, lately, I do think the tide is turning. I think that the record low approval ratings combined with the high level of peace activism is putting * in the crosshairs... and it's about time!

1. Correction: Last Three Elections
Don't forget 2002 when Saxby Chambliss and Norm Coleman "won."

A conservative 15 members of the U.S. House and Senate "won" because of electronic voting fraud...

This doesn't count state and local seats...

2. In truth, this country hasn't recovered from Reagan.
Reagan was the guy who ruled via the anecdotal lie. Reagan is the guy who injected religion and hypocricy into politics at a level unseen in decades. Reagan is the guy who tore apart our collective fabric (we're all in it together) and made the promotion of self the sine qua non of what Americans should aspire to ("I still believe this is a country where anyone can become a millionaire"). Reagan emboldened the Rs to abandon any sense of truth or decency in their politics.

Without Reagan, there would have never been * and those two stolen elections.

9. October Suprise was 1980
They may not have tampered with the elections themselves, but there was tampering with the recovery of the hostages.

10. Oh, my bad, I was thinking in terms of elections and October
surprises. In election terms there is always an "October surprise" just before the presidential election. I was thinking about that kind of October surprise but you are talking about the hostage crisis. Sorry about that.
