Heads up... VA Attorney General race.
...looks like a recount is likely.

Precincts Reporting: 2375 of 2426 (97.90%)
Registered Voters: 4,451,711 Total Voting: 1,878,665 Voter Turnout: 42.20 %
Candidates Party Vote Totals Percentage
R F McDonnell Republican 940,814 50.08%
R C Deeds Democratic 936,252 49.84%
Write Ins 1,599 0.09%

1% gives the losing candidate the ability to request a recount.

Remember Roanoke. And that the AG is a good place to have a Dem when hunting little Abramoffs.

1. Why would anyone vote for McDonnell for AG?
He refused to comply with Virginian Election Laws during his campaign. A crimminal AG.

Fingers crossed that Deeds can pull it out.

2. Even if Deeds pulls out the win tonight...

...he'll have to fend off a recount bid from McDonnel.

This could get really, really interesting. Two prosecuters fighting over election law in e-voting country.

4. All hands on deck.

Looks like a very close recount -- less than a thousand votes.
Repug is currently the "winner". Dem is already exploring a recount.

VA DUers need to encourage the Dem to tear into the machines but good.

5. Virginia touch screen switching & other problems in 2004- likely repeated
Virginia touch screen switching & other problems in 2004
http://www.flcv.com/virginia.html

Switching and other manipulation had to be expected since it was widespread in the 2004 election. So weren't they planned for this time, with plans to monitor and do exit polls, audits, etc.?

6. Was the EIRS hotline publicized in Virginia; are they using the data
to assess the touch screen switching. There should have been a major effort publicizing this since there was switching in Va. in 2004 election.

If you experienced any problem casting your ballot -- finding the polling place, voter intimidation, accessibility issues, voting machine problems, provisional ballot issues, etc. -- or you witnessed anyone having voting problems, please immediately
call 1-866-OUR-VOTE to report the problem. Please let others know too... the same number works nationwide.

Verified Voting Foundation volunteers and staff have developed a new version of the "Election Incident Reporting System" (EIRS) to record all problems reported to 1-866-OUR-VOTE. Since 2004, hundreds of organizations and thousands of individuals in the United States have used EIRS to help protect our right to vote and assure that every vote is counted as cast. If you'd like to know more about
EIRS, please visit VerifiedVotingFoundation.org and Voteprotect.org

7. AG is important because they defend the SOS offices.
It would be better to have a Dem in case of election lawsuits...no?
