CA: Debra Bowen's request for contributions. Help her replace McPherson
We are just 84 days away from Primary Election Day on June 6th, and this Friday is a very important deadline.

Friday, March 17th marks the end of the latest fundraising period. Friday's deadline is another critical opportunity to demonstrate the strength and vitality of our campaign -- a campaign that is truly powered by the grassroots support of friends across California, and even across the country.

Our campaign is fueled by individual citizens like you, people who have come together to clean up our elections system and challenge the powerful special interests. In fact, more than 70% of our contributions have come in amounts of $100 or less.

Now, on the verge of the March 17th fundraising deadline, I ask you to demonstrate the strength of that grassroots support once again, to power our campaign heading into the homestretch.

Let's show all of California the grassroots strength of our campaign -- please contribute today, before Friday's deadline!

Thanks to your help, more than 3,400 people have already emailed Secretary of State Bruce McPherson through our website, demanding that he reverse his decision to re-certify Diebold machines and give the public an opportunity to examine the study upon which he based his decision -- a study, by the way, that points out serious security flaws with Diebold machines that still have not been fixed.

Unfortunately, Secretary McPherson still refuses to listen to the will of the people. That lack of responsiveness, and his eagerness to serve the corporate interests over the people's interests, is exactly why we need a change in the Secretary of State's office.

The fact is, we need to restore the public's faith and confidence in California elections. We need to create an elections system that will serve as a model for the rest of the country.

With Bruce McPherson as Secretary of State, that simply isn't going to happen. And that's why I'm asking for your help.

Help me bring the people's voice back to the Secretary of State's office -- please contribute today!

Arnold Schwarzenegger and his GOP operatives have announced plans to raise more than $60 million to promote Republican candidates up and down the ballot this November.

We need to raise enough money to get our message out and cut through the barrage of ads that Bruce McPherson and his powerful special interest friends are going to throw at us.

That's where you come in. A contribution of $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford will really go a long way -- especially when multiplied by similar gifts from thousands of supporters across the state.

But whatever you can afford, I hope I can count on you do give what you can before this critical Friday, March 17th deadline. This is a grassroots battle to clean up California elections against some powerful and entrenched special interests -- but if we all do our part, I know we can win in November.

Please contribute to my campaign today -- before Friday's reporting deadline!

Thank you so much for your continued help and support. I look forward to standing with you in the weeks and months ahead.

Sincerely,
Debra Bowen
California State Senator

1. She's fighting Congress rethugs' bill to gut CA ID theft prevention laws.

Can you believe it? The rethugs don't want Californians to be able to protect themselves from identity theft.
