McAuliffe's Statement:
"We are not contesting the outcome of the election..."

"The republicans got more votes than the democrats..."

Terry, shut your pipe!

You have NOT MOVED A SINGLE MUSCLE SINCE 2000.

You don't represent a legitimate opinion and you don't care about the facts, unfortunately.

5. Hmmm... Do you think we are trying to keep the Reps and media off our back
That would give us the ability to investigate everything without backlash. I don't know if that is what is happening, but if it isn't then Kerry would have to have changed his personality from what it has been over the last 30 years.

13. I'm torn, but I agree with you
The way it is now, if there turns out NOT to be irrefutable proof of fraud, or if a recount actually confirms the current election totals (both of which I doubt), then who will take the heat for causing the uproar? Us. We will. And that's fine with me. I'd rather them say "those crazy tin-foil hatted conspiracy theorists on the internet raised holy hell for nothing" than "the Democratic party and John Kerry whines and are poor losers and can't accept reality and blah blah blah" - this way, being proven wrong doesn't touch the party or any future candidates in any way. There's no connection between what we're doing and the campaign - and maybe that's a good thing. I'd prefer it that way. I have no problem with being on the frontline and taking the hits IF somehow it can't be proven.

Having said that, based just on Ken Blackwell's actions alone, not to mention Florida, it's governor, and the history of 2000, Diebold's promise, and the close ties with ES&S, I believe there was fraud, and that it will be proven.

18. It's useless to speculate at this point.
As you say, were the Kerry campaign to conduct its own investigation, the last thing they'd do is reveal it to people like us, who would shout it to the heavens. Or, maybe, they're not doing much of anything at all about it.

EITHER WAY, we have no choice but to keep digging on our own. Believe me, even if they're NOT doing anything about it, they wouldn't ignore irrefutable evidence that the election was rigged, unless it was their intention to lose.

Oh wait, they just picked Harry Reid as Minority Speaker.

We're all screwed! j/k

...and to be honest, my goal is no longer primarily to over-turn the election - though it sure as hell would make me happy! But now the issue is to make sure every vote is counted, and to expose any fraud, if any (I think there was). For us, the voter, digging and digging in our heels about digging :) is a win/win situation - in the least, we can feel we did something; at best, we just might force desperately needed election reform. What an accomplishment that would be! Who knows? Let's let the 3 recounts - NH, FL and OH - take us wherever they will, and go from there.

9. Unfortunatly for Terry, we're not Republicans.
Dems aren't an army and we don't take orders - we act on our own initiative on information that we've dug up for ourselves.

If he believes the election wasdn't stolen - THEN PROVE IT BY HELPING US COUNT THE VOTES! Otherwise, he should shut up and get out of the way!

27. Before you string up McCauliffe...
Folks! Anyone remember the game we are playing??

No, there is no set of rules for the game of politics, but the most basic would be to not take things your allies say literally!

I think McCauliffe and Kerry are smartly holding the Conservative Attack Machine at bay, until they get a clear idea if all of this will amount to something.

If you need examples of the same kinds of moves they pulled during the campaign, just ask.

20. Contesting is a legal thing.
So at this point they are not contesting. If they telegraphed an intent to contest it would be Florida 2000 all over again. At least they are there, and if there is a problem that is big enough to contest I bet they will.

23. Hey, gang...
A little more sophistication, please. Right this very minute, Wes Clarke is on "Hardball"--Tweety is asking him about the red and blue states, and about the election. He talked about how proud he is how so many Americans showed up to vote! And he talked about how we need to make sure the system works so that NO ONE has any doubts about the results.

This is the surrogate showing up! They ARE working on this! Both NBC's report tonight, and especially CBS's online article are ways to introduce this explosive subject to mainstream unaware America.

Terry Mac is just dodging right now, until he no longer needs to.

26. Here is what I sent to the DNC
I saw these comments by Terry about the stolen election:

"Unlike 2000, the Republicans simply received more votes than Democrats in this election," said Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) Chairman Terry McAuliffe in a statement.

"We are not contesting the outcome of this election.

"But, win, lose or draw, the Democratic party feels that every vote is a voice, and to that end, we are committed to ensuring that every vote cast in 2004 be counted," he said.

First of all, has he seen the numbers? The numbers are compelling. They show that exit polls in areas where there were electronic machines were way off; especially compared to paper ballots.

Second, there have been lots of irregularities nationwide including a case of fraud in NY and potential cases nationwide.

Third, when are you going to grow a spine and possibly some balls? It's Terry's fault that we are in this situation. He hasn't had one bit of guts since taking over. Now we are worse off than ever. Terry is basically taking up space. He should just leave now and get it over with. We are the opposition party. Lets oppose. When are you going to challenge these crimes? 2006? 2008? 2010? By then it will be too late. The senate will be 65-35 and we will have President Brownback. Thanks, Bleachers7

29. Exactly! If this matter isn't fully investigated now the Democratic
Party can forget getting out the vote in 2008. People will not even bother to get up off the sofa and they sure as h... aren't going to wait in any 8-10 hour lines. They know when they've been had! Grover Norquest said the pugs will be in power for a long time. Why? Because the Democrats are too timid to take what is clearly theirs! The White House is ours stupid!
