Rove thanks Republican lawyers for their work on 'clean elections'

RAW STORY
Published: Monday April 10, 2006

In a speech to the Republican National Lawyers Association in Washington last Friday, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove thanked its members for their "work on clean elections," RAW STORY has found.

"I want to thank you for your work on clean elections," Rove said. "I know a lot of you spent time in the 2004 election, the 2002, election, the 2000 election in your communities or in strange counties in Florida, helping make it certain that we had the fair and legitimate outcome of the election."

Rove then suggested that some elections in America were similiar to third world dictatorships.

"We have, as you know, an enormous and growing problem with elections in certain parts of America today," Rove said. "We are, in some parts of the country, I'm afraid to say, beginning to look like we have elections like those run in countries where they guys in charge are, you know, colonels in mirrored sunglasses. I mean, it's a real problem, and I appreciate that all that you're doing in those hot spots around the country to ensure that the ballot -- the integrity of the ballot is protected, because it's important to our democracy."

Unless he knows we know he has so many tells.

Thing is, Rove's "genius" only works with a complicit corporate state and media. Will he still have that in November?

We need exit polls at every voting both in 06 .... the fix is already in. In Ohio in
04 we were ready for another Florida 2000 "they" had moved on to new shit.

Except that the purging blacks from voting rolls was done on a massive scale.

3. Rove's telegraphing that THIS is their next battle and preparing cover
legal cover - for their past and future manipulations.

DNC and Chairman Dean better be working 24/7 on exposing machine fraud and the GOP control of the machines.

7. Hey, sfexpat, any hope that DNC is taking this seriously yet?
I haven't heard anything more in the last 2 months and am worried that those who believe the machine fraud are still getting blocked out by the majority voices still believing it's just conspiracy theory talk.

8. I don't think they can publicly. But, Debra Bowen is.
Is there anyone else marking how incredibly messed up HAVA implementation is?

10. I thought that. too, at first, but now it's getting late into 2006
and the issue needs to get out there while the public is opening their eyes and seeing the Republicans for the deceptive manipulators they are.

11. Dems running for Sec of State ALL OVER THE COUNTRY
should be latching onto this issue.

People still feel bad about 2000 and 2004. Debra is tuning into that. They should follow suit.

15. Yep
Ya know, the rest of the world is usually two months or so behind DU.

Well, it seems the rest of DU is just now getting with the movement. Yeah, some threads still get killed, but the work we have done with putting election threads on the greatest pages under the ER banner are starting to pay off. I rarely see anyone on DU calling us conspiracy theorists, anymore.

The movement is rolling and the rest of the world is coming right along behind us.

14. I heard about rove's appearnce via TV, citing Oregon and WA
vote by mail systems as a concern.

I'd like to see the transcript. I think he committed himself to election procedural integrity, which is something that can be used against him in the future, at least when it comes to policy.... : )
