To coin a familiar phrase "I can feel your pain" BUT.....

After the Dec. 3 deadline and you know for sure that Kerry is doing nothing for you can bitch all you want but until then many people here are trying to do something. We are trying to keep our enthusiasm up and trying to get others here to help us.

These posts that say "Terry McAuliffe just said....." and "Kerry's Spokesman just said....." are only serving to discourage people and to PREVENT us from getting things done. If you need to bitch and moan - call a friend or perhaps post it on another forum.

Until I hear from Kerry's mouth "I'm putting a stop to the recount and the investigation and I want people to stop doing this in my behalf I (and many others) will work to do whatever we can.

Quit yer whining and sign this petition and forward it on to everyone you know. I was sent this petition from the Kerry campaign and I intend to get everyone I can to sign it:

3. amen
i really am concerned that we have no way to consolidate all this information we all have been researching and such. I'm working on a 2 page brief with all the most convincing statistical evidence with the intention of emailing and faxing it to as many media outlets as possible. I just really am worried that the largest problem we all face in uncovering the truth will be that we all have too much information. If anyone would like to help me please post what you think the single most significant stat/fact of this whole thing is. I only just joined 10 min ago, it would be great if we could get a consolidation thread of some sort where everyone only posts the most important facts and stats that can be used to take down this oligarchy. Sorry if i missed a similar thread from before.

I wonder if the website admins could even consolidate the most important election facts into an Election FAQ page that could be linked to from the frong page of the website?

10. at this point im getting a little nervous
i think that we are getting a little too mainstream and we need to stay under the radar to get to the bottom of this election. I dont want to give the repubs that are on this site our best info. Am i just being completely paranoid at this point?

Where should I start digging?

I am sure most of the webpages have been clicked to death over this.
Can you give some specific ideas where a person would go to ( I'm talking about in the flesh, going to actual for real locations) To help get some infor.

I'm not sure how helpful it is for us to repeat the same information to each other over and over.

8. Oh, NOOOOOOOOOO -- please don't put it that way
I can't believe I'm reading this:

Until I hear from Kerry's mouth "I'm putting a stop to the recount and the investigation and I want people to stop doing this in my behalf I (and many others) will work to do whatever we can.

Man, this isn't about Kerry. It isn't about Bush. Or Nader or Cobb or Badnerik. THIS IS ABOUT DEMOCRACY ITSELF, saving it. If you're fighting for Kerry, we'll take your efforts, of course, but that is the WRONG goal. Absolutely.

If, as you imagine, Kerry ever does come out and say, "stop working on my behalf," we need you to keep on working 'cause this isn't about Kerry and his "behalf." This is about America, the sanctity and SAFETY of the vote, and about preserving the right to EVER be able to actually vote for our national -- and even local -- leaders again.

NOT about Kerry. Not even close.

11. What for??? We need a leader, or at least a cause.......
He quit, a little too early for my money, and there seems to be no orchestrated cause as of yet.

The DNC shut us out, so where do we go for instructions? We were a solid hammer, waiting to be swung, and somebody over there dropped us. Now we're just lying around on the floor waiting for the day when the right man or woman will pick us us and take a really huge swing at the powers that be.

Where is that man or woman???

Well, there is Randi Roades, God bless her soul! At least we have her, and Airamerica (though by the sound of last night's "Majority Report", I'm not so sure that's much to build on). Bev Harris, too, with that BlackBoxVoting.org.

Let's have a nice list of causes that need to get together and swing the hammer.

There's moveon.org......and there's OSPIRG out here in Oregon......who else?

12. Machines need auditing
I personally don't care what JK says, one way or the other. This really shouldn't be about this one election, it should be about those damned machines. Bottom line, they don't work. That's it, that's all.

I still say mail-in. First, they're paper. Postman would probably notice two ballots to the same person. No lines. No intimidation. Do not hand your ballot over to anybody. No precincts, no uploading. All ballots end up in the county office. And on Presidential election day, that is ALL we vote for.

16. You're describing Oregon's process.
WE vote by mail here, and we elected Kerry, in spite of all the stupid Bush/Cheney signs on the corners, and all the shenanigans made no difference here. We worked our BUTTS off to GOTV and we sure DID IT.

I think we were not alone in the country.

You are right, mail in is the ONLY way. Best way. People vote at their leisure, and it's either mailed or dropped at a drop site. That works very well for us. No voter intimidation, no turning away, no machine malfunctions, no long, long lines for hours and hours, no hanging chads since we used the bubble system.......best way ever. And I voted against it when it was first put on the ballot in 98. Believe it or not.

28. Why yes I am!
I live in Oregon too, it is absolutely the best voting system in the country. I moved here just about the time that vote came up. Remember worrying about vote tampering and all kinds of things. It's worked incredibly well. I just don't see another plan that would have as good results.

I kind of wonder how we were able to keep both our Dems & Nader voters and very few other states were able to as well. Especially considering all the right wing crud we had on the ballot.

20. Was sent an mail by someone in the Kerry campaign because I worked on it.
I was just a grunt in the campaign... But I contacted one of the "top dogs," asked them to keep me informed and, surprisingly, I heard back from them.

btw, I have given Ida Briggs this person's contact info because Ida needed it so I now have someone else here who will be able to verify this all - THANK GOD!!!

I can only give this person's info out to someone that I know and trust....

29. That is just sooo coool!
Each passing hour (since I check in here at DU a lot,) I am gratified and even more deeply humbled by the sheer number of real patriots who have responded to the numbing shock of seeing history suddenly short-circuited, by the forces of anti-democratic evil , with a resounding "NO, you are not allowed to steal our most basic rights without the toughest fight imaginable!"

After years of watching in horror and helplessness as good folks rolled over and went back to sleep after each further episode of evisceration of of the body of rights and freedoms so very precious to all self governed people, I had nearly given up on ever seeing such a comeback. If each of us continues to awaken the others and to do as much as we can, individually and in concert, perhaps we really can win this revolution! Give 'em hell, boys and girls, fellow patriots, the way is truly reopening.

22. Kerry can say all he wants to, we are not jut doing it for him

We are American citizens and we can keep asking questions and questioning all we want to.

This issue is not just about Kerry, it is about our RIGHTS as citizens to make sure that our votes counted.

What Kerry does have the right to do is to say," What ever the results show, I will roll over for Bush, be scared and let him nominate Clarence Thomas to be Chief Justice."

He can concede but he can't stop me from asking questions of our government.

25. I signed this petition yesterday and I had to go back to change
my data. When I went back, my number was 10,505. I assumed I would keep the same number, but in the few seconds it took me to alter my info, the number was up to 10,539. I think that we should start another sign the petition thread, and encourage people to jot down their number...just like in the online polls, the increasing number count will be encouraging. What do you think?
