Hardball Chris Matthews Will Be Getting In To The Mix Friday Night!

Ohio— The recount of 2004 (David Shuster)

This afternoon, I spoke with Blair Bobier, the attorney/spokesman for David Cobb, the Green Party's 2004 candidate for President. Bobier confirms that the press release floating on the net is legitimate. The Green Party is combining forces with the Libertarian Party to seek a statewide election recount in Ohio.
>>
....
<<
On Friday night, "Hardball with Chris Matthews" (7 p.m. and 11 p.m. ET) will be jumping into the fray. You won't want to miss that. Plus, this weekend here on Hardblogger, I'll be posting some amazing national election numbers and demographic trends that may shock you. I've run some of the numbers past a few MSNBC political analysts, and everybody is calling it "a big deal."
>>

Will Mattews be a friend to the cause?

In addition, any ideas what these demographic trends
Shuster is referring to?

Again, I think Shuster deserves some positive emails: DShuster@msnbc.com

1. Matthews and Ginsburg will laugh themselves silly
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 10:25 PM by Jack_Dawson
I wouldn't expect much from Tweety. That's why I traded him in for Keith about a week ago.

2. "Demographic trends that may shock you"
It better not be shock and awe. I've had enough of that in this election.

16. Sent
Feedback sent to Olbermann and Schuster. Told them I'm glad to see that there is still some integrity left in television journalism.

Glad to see the recount being done in Ohio and NH - I urge you to help donate to them and try to find people who would also be interested in doing so.

I'm not getting my hopes up but in the words of Ambassador Joseph Wilson, 'I'd like to see Karl Rove frog marched out of the White House.'

Matthews wouldn't want to be the #2 show's host. Right now, he is, though. As far as I'm concerned, anyway.

9. Matthews is very conservative
He is a democrat but a conservative one. He did let Zell another democrat but a ultra conservative one, have it. My husband calls him a right wing hack. I said no Hannity and O'Reilly are right wing hacks. Matthews is just conservative. He may be enough of a Goldwater conservative to do something constructive.

Our problem is with ... the religious extremists ...
who want to destroy everybody who doesn't agree with
them. I see them as betrayers of the fundamental principles
of conservatism. A lot of so-called conservatives today
don't know what the word means. (1994)

Conservative Republican,presidential candidate, Barry Goldwater,

12. Matthews not a Conservative...
Edited on Thu Nov-11-04 10:54 PM by thatcoloredfella
He just looks at the world within the bubble of the Beltway! I loved him back when he was on McLaughlin Group, but you need to understand the dynamics of where he is coming from.

He's got this struggling show on a 3rd rated cable network, and he is MSNBC's Bill O'Reilly (without the lies).

But, he has great contacts all around Washington - Dems and Repubs - and it keeps getting him great guests. Yes, he worked for Tip O'Neill, but going after the Swift Boat Vets got him blacklisted for awhile with the Conservatives. He even sent Michelle Mallkin crying to Rush Limbaugh.

But, I hate it too how he panders to the Republicans and gives Bush a pass almost as much as Dennis Miller. But, getting him on this story will only help. Matthews is not one to lie with the facts in front of him.

And, yes I will fire off an email of thanks to David Shuster!

22. Lots of good points.
I hope you're right about Matthews. I would agree outright, but he's burned me too many times. Sometimes it's seems he's fair, then the next night his evil twin shows up! Too exhausting for me. I only watch 'Countdown', now.

Welcome to DU, thatcoloredfella! :hi:

34. I must be your evil twin...
And, thanks for the how do, txindy!

I only watch Countdown, too!!! When Matthews got all that press for facing down the Swift Boat Vet author O'Neill, I gave him another try. But, during the second debate, he had Ben Ginsburg and that hag Andrea Mitchell grading Bush's performance on a median grade curve.

So I understand your frustration with him. He has to suck up to the Conservatives to keep them coming back, and keep that ship afloat. Besides, it's all about going after those Fox viewers for MSNBC and CNN.

19. My thoughts as well. I was watching him up until the day after the
election when he and scar-whatever and Pat Buchanan started talking about how morals won the race for W! I couldn't believe it. Are Kerry supporters immoral?
It was too bad. I really thought I saw Matthew's face drop on election night as it became more clear Bush was winning. To bad he didn't have more of a backbone when standing up to his own panel.

who practically peed in his pants when guest Bill Maher made a joke about Bush being an alcoholic. He showed his true colors that day and I don't waste my time on him anymore.

26. Loudball is all about ratings.....
His integrity as a journalist only surfaces when it has something to do with his own show or character.

He is only on this story now because he sees it picking up momentum and he figures he can steal the story from Olbermann....wrong.

But any attention (for now) is good. And with recounts about to go down, and qualified statistical analysis pointing out the obvious, I'm feeling sort of good right now.
