Hunger strikes, vigils in Mexico election crisis
With Mexico locked in a political crisis, left-wing hunger strikers and militants holding 24-hour vigils are digging in their heels for a long fight to force a recount of a contested presidential election.

Outside the electoral court where judges have six weeks to assess leftist runner-up Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's demand for a vote-by-vote recount, hunger strikers on Tuesday went into their 11th day of consuming only water with salts.

As Lopez Obrador draws up a civil disobedience campaign, activists have formed round-the-clock guards at the 300 vote storage depots around the country, to stop anyone getting in to tamper with the ballot boxes locked inside.

"We will stay here until the court decides to resolve this. We won't give in, however long it takes," said student Jair Patino, 23, one of four hunger strikers camped outside the barbed metal gates of the electoral court.

4. I completely agree with you - And this topic needs to be kept front &
center on our homepage and all over the internet because the danger now exists that the "World War III" in the Middle East will become the only topic when this topic alone for us all this fall has huge implications.
