Making Our Efforts as Effective as Possible
There's so much great stuff here, but takes time to go through, of which I have little, and things are changing quickly.

Frankly, my personal concern is, I need to be able to quickly find what should be e-mail to media, gov't officials, et al., assuming I can only send a link or two per day, because my acquaintanceship is getting tired.

One thought is to divide things up further (I'm a newbie, this is my first forum, pls excuse if I'm not doing this right). I'm pretty sure I don't have this divided up right, but as a starting point for those who know better, maybe have sub-categories for:

Central Tabulation (including statistical analyses) -- I think this area are VERY IMPORTANT.

Non-Tabulation Problems (i.e., destruction of registration apps., etc.) -- also v. impt.
Media re- this Topic

SUMMARIES FOR DISSEMINATION (THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE TO ME: I and others want to forward info, but so hard to figure out key links; e.g., I circulated an e-mail w/ form ltr referring to good Wikipedia summary, which may soon be pulled). I'd love to be able to get ONE, good, sane-sounding link per day that provides lots of factual info re- why we need an official investigation. Could also put form letter here, compilations, etc.

Other topics might include, What is Kerry Doing, Consolations of Philosophy, etc.

Another concern I've got is that I see a lot of fantastic work being done, but it's never clear if anyone's actually following up and getting it TO lots of the right people. I don't here much in the outside world that shows it's getting there (which of course cd be for lots of reasons--I hope at least some folks are just playing dumb). But, e.g., Pew guy on Diane Rehm today said he hadn't seen any of the evidence. IS IT REALLY POSSIBLE NO ONE HAS SENT OUR BEST STUFF TO PEW YET? Here's the link:
http://www.pewtrusts.com/feedback/index.cfm

Why don't I send it. OK; but where the IS our latest and greatest right now.

Greater efficiency might also be achieved through sep. webpages, or whatever.

Pls consider this an invite for suggestions, and hope someone who can implement reads.

My significant other is about ready to break up despite my v. significant contribution to the mortgage payment.

Love you all.

2. metatopic comment -- using subject lines more effectively
It would increase searchability, especially on copied topics, if we'd include the topic in the subject line more often.

3. I agree -- we desperately need someone or a group to pull
some of this together.

I am collecting the links (most of them), and accumulating them here:

VOTE FRAUD Links - a DU Compendium
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=201&topic_id=1984#

The good, the bad and the ugly all together, whatever I can find. This is consuming way more time than I would like (shoulda been in bed hours ago, for example), and I have NO time left to do anything with this massive storage facility. There is some AMAZING stuff in there, too. And some garbage. Some of the best stuff is within a thread rather than its opening post (OP).

But, in any case, check it frequently (I'll probably start a wnd thread tomorrow for those of us, like me, on dial-up).

6. A brilliant idea Newbie snot. Welcome!
I've been going crazy with all these threads and as the evidence gathers each day we need to be able to reach various aspects of the information in an easy manner.

I've sent a lot of people here, and now I'm imagining them trying to find the facts in all the threads.

We need to divide evidence if possible, so people are not overwhelmed.

8. A couple of v. good sites
You may have gotten it elsewhere, but just got these from a non-DU source (although they're probably in here somewhere):

Good summary of news w/ links:

http://blog.democrats.com/ohio

This site has GREAT set-ups where you can type in your zip code and contact all your media and/or all your gov’l officials:

http://www.pfaw.org/pfaw/general/default.aspx?oid=17395

Unfortunately, no form letters provided; so if you forward, might want to give folks some sources or language.

9. Compilation of data, theories, news - 11-11-04
I have been fortunate enought to be able to spend mush of my time working on this issue since it began November 2, and have read many articles, been involved in letter writing, listened to radio shows on the issue, been involved in donations, etc. I have compiled here a list of links to some of the key articles on the issue, links to latest info, news and activists sites, and offer a list of things you can do to help expose the election fraud that occurred on November 2.

Links to key articles and data/information:
- Bob Fritrakis of The Free Press: http://www.freepress.org/columns/display/3/2004/985
- Crisis Paper outlines the whole issue: http://www.crisispapers.org/essays/democracy.htm and provides links to other articles (http://www.crisispapers.org/topics/election-fraud.htm) <-------- A MUST READ
- The Squanderer compiles some of the best data and arguments on the issue (great work): http://thesquanderer.com/votingmachines.html
- Exit poll analysis showing improbability of polls being wrong: http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=405
- Greg Palast (2000 stolen election guru) on provisional ballot: http://www.tompaine.com/articles/kerry_won.php
- Thom Hartmann (“The Ultimate Felony Against Democracy”) http://www.commondreams.org/views04/1104-38.htm
- Mike Whitney analysis: http://www.smirkingchimp.com/article.php?sid=18549
- Mark Crispin Miller: http://www.wordmadeflesh.ca/index.php?p=30

Links to other activist sites covering the fraud:
- This site (Democracy Underground)
- Redefeat Bush (http://redefeatbush.com/)
- No Stolen Elections (http://www.nov3.us/)
- Voters Unite: Running compilation of all election problems reported in the media (http://www.votersunite.org/electionproblems.asp)

What is currently being done and what YOU can do:
- Help America Recount (helpamericarecount.org) is a non-profit set up specifically to get recounts in Ohio and Florida. Bev Harris of Black Box Voting (blackboxvoting.org) and leading figure in the Ohio and Florida recounts is endoring the site heavily. I believe Black Box Voting and Bev Harris are affiliated with it. This site has been heavily endorsed on the Randi Rhodes Show and Mike Malloy Show.
WHAT CAN YOU DO: They need around $150,000 to do the recount. Time is running out to get the money together. Bev Harris' strong endorsement of this effort tells me that THIS is place to send your money if you want to help. I had enough conviction myself to send $100.00

- The Alliance for Democracy (http://www.thealliancefordemocracy.org/html/eng/2138-AA.shtml) is also trying to get a recount of Ohio.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: They also need cash to make the recount happen.

- Today the presidential candidates for both the Libertarian and Green party's are asking for a hand recount in Ohio and have asked Secretary of State Blackwell to recuse himself of the recount. Here is a press release on it: http://www.sierratimes.com/04/11/11/Presidential_Candidates_To_Demand_Ohio_Recount.htm
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Help David Cobb (Green Party) and Michael Badnarik (Libertarian Party) with a donation to help pay for the Ohio recount. http://www.votecobb.org/ and http://www.badnarik.org/

- Ralph Nader is currently having New Hampshire hand recounted. If this leads to gross irregularities, it could open up suspicion in other, more important areas like Florida and Ohio.

- Six members of the House are currently petitioning the Government Accountability Office for an investigation into election irregularities. Here is the PDF file of the letter they sent: http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/gaoinvestvote2004ltr11804.pdf
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Send John Conyers a e-mail encouraging his efforts, and stressing the need to push for immediate action (john.conyers@mail.house.gov). Perhaps more importantly, write to YOUR congressperson and ask him or her to join this group of representatives and add their voices and signatures to this request. Find your representative here: http://www.house.gov/writerep/

- Black Box Voting and Bev Harris are on the leading edge of the fight, working in conjunction with others to get the Ohio and Florida recounts that could expose the general fraud (http://blackboxvoting.org/). They are also working to file the largest Freedom of Information Act request in history, gathering election data from all 50 states in hopes of uncovering the fraud.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Contribute to their cause or join them in their work doing field work in your community (See “Crew” info on site).

- Petition Online has gotten together a citizens petition to send to the U.S. Congress asking the Congress to investigate wrongdoing in the 2004 election.
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Sign the petition online.

- Air America’s Randi Rhodes Show is covering the issue and becoming a center for activism. http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/. Randi claims to reach an audience of 4 million daily, so she can have an impact on making the issue known.
WHAT CAN YOU DO: Encourage Randi to continue to keep the issue foremost on her show: rrhodes@airamericaradio.com. Mike Malloy of Air America is also talking a lot about the issue. Encourage him to keep the issue up front as well: mike@mikemalloy.com. Believe me, this approach works! I personally sent Mike Malloy an e-mail encourage him to talk about Help America Recount. He not only read my e-mail on the air, but plugged the site all through his show on November 10. So, you CAN make a difference!

- The internet community is the single most powerful force in this movement! When the issue is referenced on TV (via MSNBC’s Keith Olberman), on radio (Air America, Thom Hartmann, etc.), news articles and op/eds, the Internet community is almost always mentioned as the force that is bring this issue to light! Discussion boards and blogs are keeping are making big waves, folks. WE are making a difference!
WHAT YOU CAN DO: Keep talking about the issue on the discussion boards, encouraging people to keep talking positively about the potential to turn this election around through exposure of the fraud. You could very well be taking place in one of the most important events in America’s history. Now is the time to show your love for America, to take part in saving nothing less than American Democracy itself. Getting the word out is perhaps the most important thing we can do right now. E-mail your favoritre blogs asking them to keep the stories and op/eds about the issue on their front pages. E-mail our liberal news outlets like The Nation (http://www.thenation.com/), Mother Jones (http://www.motherjones.com/), and In These Times (http://www.inthesetimes.com/), and let them know how much you are concerned about this issue and ask them to write about it and make it the key issue in their publications. Talk to people at work, in your family, telling them about the election fraud and getting them involved.

Stay with it! We need to brign this issue to light, encourage others to do the same, encourage the folks on the ground who making it happen by sending them e-mail, donate what you can to the organizations getting recounts and investigating, write our congresspeople asking them to get involved, encourage blogs to keep the issue up front, talk to people about it. Together we can make a loud noise and turn this thing around!

10. An e-mail I've been sending
Dear Friends and Family:

The community outrage surrounding the election is buring white hot! A boatload of information is emerging, and VoterGate is about to burst out into the open. During the last week, many neighborhoods held meetings and hundreds of us flooded coffee houses and community meeting spaces. Many actions are planned around the country and here at home for this weekend. We are not going to be silent. We are a powerful presence..and we have a mighty voice...if we speak together, we can get an investigation into this so called election, and force the Karl Rove anti-democracy machine out from behind its curtain. We can not expect the mainstream media to do this for us...as Bev Harris says "we have to be the media". To that end...

We are beginning to compile sites where you can find the best information on VoterGate, and where to take action. We know you are being overwhelmed with stuff and do not have time to research this your self. So together we will sort through things and try to keep you up to date with the best sources we can find. This will keep you armed with useful information when you are talking with your friends and family. Help us investigate Votergate!

Here are the starters:

For a copy of the Conyer's letter to the GAO go to:
http://www.house.gov/apps/list/press/ny08_nadler/GAOflwup110904.html

Write your representatives and congresspeople. Act at:
http://www.workingforchange.com/activism/action.cfm?itemid=18058 and to sign a petition and contact your legislators at: http://www.moveon.org/investigatethevote/

Write to the media and insist they cover this story.
Go to http://www.blackboxvoting.org or http://www.helpamericarecount.org and donate.

For the best statistical information on the exit poll controversy go to:
http://www.zogby.com/soundbites/ReadClips.dbm?ID=10385

For ongoing reporting and analysis, go to www.democraticunderground.com (go to Discussion Forums and then Presidential Results and Discussion).

We also have an amazing paper that was written by an MIT professor who is an international election observer. In it he discusses the exit poling methods used internationally, and why they are the most reliable way to determine the outcome of an election prior to the vote being counted. This is both a scientific statistical, and a human anecdotal paper. It reveals a lot to us about how elections should be conducted and why. http://www.buzzflash.com/alerts/04/11/The_unexplained_exit_poll_discrepancy_v00k.pdf

Go to http://www.votersunite.org to find a list of actions and relate stories of fraud and suppression.

Watch for upcoming local events in your area by checking in at www.nov3.us.

Go to http://www.votenader.org or http://web.greens.org/c/cobb/supporters.cgi?function=donate.org and help Ralph Nader and David Cobb fund their respective recounts in New Hampshire and Ohio.
If you have speakers on your computer, you can see the first t.v. news on this matter at: http://homepage.mac.com/duffyb/nobush/iMovieTheater270 .... . It does a pretty good job of covering some of the many known problems or discrepancies as of November 9th.

Also, MSNBC is giving the story some coverage:
Dave Shuster is on the case at: (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6446237/#041110d),
And so is MSNBC's Keith Olbermann's COUNTDOWN at: (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/).

He has done three stories in a row and also dedicates a major blog to the election. We just heard a report that NBC gave him extra support to continue the story based on feedback from phone calls and emails. Show him your support. Email him at: KOlbermann@msnbc.com It acutally has helped.

For an uplifting art message from youth activists go to: http://www.sorryeverybody.com/gallery/2/

For a good compilation of articles, go to BELLACIAO: http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=4194

And be sure to go to: www.democracynow everyday and listen to WBAI's Amy Goodman. From her, you can get live streaming of the best daily progressive news reports on the emerging story in the country.
Also, listen on-line to www.airamericaradio.com and hear Randi Rhodes (from 3-7 p.m. daily) as she discusses the latest in the VoterGate reports.

We are also looking for stories on local organizing efforts, particularly prior to the elections and we are especially interested in Ohio and Florida. If you know of or are involved in planning any, please let us know and/or send them to www.votersunite.org

And one more thing.... forward this e-mail to your friends and family.

11. This is why we have created the BBV Cleanup Crew
It seems that lots of people have been similarly frustrated. Please join up.

Creating a repository for prepared summary materials to send to people - and getting them checked by people who have a few clues - would be a great idea.

Add it to the TASK THREAD and go to it.
