Take a look at Indiana returns
Kerry and the republican senator candidate Scott numbers are closer together and Bush and the dem. candidate numbers are closer together.

This doesn't sound right.

1. Is there evidence of straight ticket voting otherwise?
It is entirely likely that defecting Republicans would split: vote Kerry but control him with a Republican senator and congressman.

That was one of the ways they were consoling themselves for their inability to vote for Bush.

Democrats, however, I would expect to vote straight ticket this year. We 're trying to take back control.

You need breakdown of registered voters: Rep., Dem., Ind.

2. Senator Bayh
Senato Evan Bayh has wide cross-party support in Indina and his opponent was an Alan Keyes-type.

4. To be honest Indiana has a very large Libertarian population

Mike Badnarik's mother lives in Hammond Indiana, where Mike grew up, and is also a Libertarian party member. So I would expect him to get a decent turnout in Indiana
