Conyers:Electronic Voting Machines: The Worst Ever Security Flaw
The Open Voting Foundation recently got its hands on an electronic voting machine from Diebold, took it apart, and found some very troubling things about the security shortfalls of these machines.

Featured on slashdot.com, a blog for technology experts and enthusiasts who spend little time on politics, the commenters on this subject were aghast at how simple hacking such a machine would be.

While the slashdot audience may not hold politics in the highest regard, it is very illuminating to see how an audience of technologically gifted people regard our voting systems with such disdain. Their disgust is well-deserved and suggests all Americans should be aware of these machines' vulnerability.

4. Conyers is an American hero...
If we had more men and women with Conyer's honesty and tenacity in Congress, we wouldn't be in the sorry state we're in now. I can't offhand think of anybody I admire more. To me, Conyers is a true American hero.

6. Simple is better. Electronic voting machines should be *banned* from

polling places in America at the federal level. There is absolutely no way to secure these things, imho. They are too complected for the elected officials to understand and for the public to understand. The system needs to go back to filling in ovals on a paper ballot with a #2 pencil.

Just flat out ban them, country wide. No debate over open source or which company is better. Go back to what has been proven to work for centuries.

Paper ballots. Hand counted at the precinct level. Results posted on the door.

7. As usual, Conyers is on top of this, the first one in line. K&R!
He should certainly be given some award, but I think what he's most concerned with is assuring democracy in America.

Get democracy back and forget the awards is probably his attitude and should be the attitude of all Dems.

10. More irrefutable proof that Diebold sold the gov't shoddy products...

... and RFK Jr's lawsuit, using "Lincoln's Law" dealing with providing shoddy merchandise/products to fulfill government contracts is totally warranted.

12. I swear
It's almost like I can breathe again.

The coverage of voting security flaws, the flaws and vulnerabilities finally being taken seriously, and the awakening of the majority of America is something I believed in and hoped for but didn't have any idea would come so soon. Not soon enough to have saved thousands of lives, but sooner than I expected.

Phew. Learning to exhale.
