Dems.voting Rep. in Florida since 2000? Curious!!!!
When we became aware that Dems in Florida were voting Rep. in some counties and not others we were given the excuse that these were Dixiecrats and that they have been voting this way since 2000. Is this correct? If so doesn't that ring some bells since that was the first year of the huge discrepancy in voting habits in Florida? Were the optical scanners recently put in place there or what? 2000 was the year all of this started.

1. Right
in 2002 with the help of TS/OS Jeb got 12% more votes than McBride for Gov. BUT an admendment to limit class size past by 4% and Jeb fought it as hard as he fought for re-election .....

3. The dixiecrat excuse doesn't hold water, imo...
because the dixiecrats have always voted repub even though registered as dems so there should be no great increase in the number of their votes over time yet the excuse is that there was a great new wave of them suddenly changing their vote from dem to repub, it doesn't compute.

The numbers needed to compare are those previous to 2000, was the vote % consistent over time? If so, the dixiecrat excuse can be shot down.

4. Dixieland did not vote for Bush!
Gadsden
6,253/Bush
14,629/Kerry

Jefferson
3,298/Bush
4,134/Kerry

Leon
51,594/Bush
83,830/Kerry

plus Madison was very close

Madison
4,196/Bush
4,048/Kerry

All four counties are on the FL/GA border. Odd that this pro Kerry cluster would show up smack in the middle of Dixiecratland?
