"Florida dixiecrats"
I just heard Franken's show (I don't know why) and he keeps punding his wise-ass lines about the internet and those Republicans that will not dare to cheat or lie their way to power...

Anyway, he talked with an "expert" that "debunked" the strange voting patterns in Floridam based on the "dixiecrat theory."

Franken, YOU LIVED IN MINNESOTA AND WORK AND NEW YORK NOW, do some basic research and don't include in it the Florida 2000 unofficial results!

The dixiecrats are those democrats that voted for the laternative candidacy of the fascist Strom Thurmond in 1948. Period. The dixiecrat BS doesn't hold any water.

The Floridians voted to pass the initiative raising the minimum wage there by 1 dollar. That's very liberal Franken, you should know that because you claim to be one.

I want you, Begala or Carville to breakdown for us the Republican vote in Florida, that contradicts all known data.

1. What do you think a breakdown in the FL
Republican vote would show? I'm trying to get my head around this dixiecrat strawman argument. And where did the dixiecrat explanation orginate? Anyone know?

2. Several Republican claims all accepted by the DNC
Edited on Fri Nov-12-04 04:29 PM by RaulVB
That the Jewish voters didn't follow Kerry because a Jewish was not part of the ticket.

That the Cubans voted in the same usual numbers for Bush even when he restricted their travel to the island, right after a serious hurricane.

That this was the effect of the evalengical christians going to vote, ALL OF THEM.

THAT GORE VOTERS DECIDED TO SUPPORT BUSH.

THAT NADER VOTERS DECIDED TO SUPPORT BUSH.

That newly registered voters overwhelmingly supported Bush in Florida.

All of the above is absolutely false.

That's the mainstream "explanations" an they are based in pure ignorance of the latest known polls.

4. I get it. You would like to see a statistical
breakdown of the vote for Bush v Kerry based on the categories of lie put out by the Regressives:
jewish
cuban
evangelical
gore voter
nader voter
newly registered

Is that right?

5. Exactly
The available data says otherwise, but the DNC "experts" are not worried about minor details, I guess.

6. The "Bush is better for Israel" idea
did influence the Jewish vote. My father-in-law who lives in Broward county told me that a number of his friends (lifelong Democrats) voted for Bush because of their delusional belief that he is better for Israel.

I know a number of people here (Los Angeles) that did the same. I can't quantify it, obviously and it could have been negated by a higher percentage of Jews voting and voting for Kerry but it definitely happened, unfortunately.

7. These are counties with a high majority of voters registered has Dems
Supposedly they usually vote DEM locally, but voted REP for President.

However, there are a cluster of counties on the FL/GA border that defy this myth and had a majority registered DEM and voted for Kerry.
