Ohio an e-voting state? I thought...
I thought Ohio mainly used puch cards, with very few e-voting counties. However, this chart is calling Ohio an electronic voting state. Why would it be considered an electronic state when most of Ohio votes with punch cards? Can someone explain this to me?

1. We are slotted to be an exclusive e-voter state by 06
And since Blackwell approved vendors, various counties across the state have been free to buy machines before this past election.

2. The state uses electronic tabulators made by Diebold.
So even though there isn't widespread use of Diebold e-voting machines, Diebold equipment runs the show.

3. look at how much more valid the exit polls looked where there are paper
ballots and how all the electronic voting states were way off in favor of bush... yeah nothing to see here.

5. Ohio uses a lot of optical scan
Verifiedvoting.org has a map that gives a county by county breakdown of the hardware in use in most (but not all states). Since the scanning hardware is also something programmed, elections can be (short term) rigged there. You can skew the reported machine counts, and hopefully take the election. Since there is a real paper trail, an honest manual count can find the truth, but only if one actually gets done.

It does mean that you have to cheat enough, so that the result is wide enough to not trigger an automatic recount. It also means you have to do something to supress random spot check recounts. (something that should happen no matter how the ballots are counted. States should use their lottery machines, and pick some precincts at randome (1-5%) for automatic recheck, even in cases of real landslides.

7. You said a mouthful
This is exactly correct. They only needed to push enough of an "advantage" to cross the threshold that wouldn't trigger a recount and look suspicious. But the fact that turnout was so high and the exit polls showed the discrepancies that they did makes it harder to do this without detection.
