Ohio: What do we need? Where can it come from?
The Green and Libritarian candidate are demanding a recount in Ohio. Let's say for a second this happens. It won't do us any good if they count it again and come up with the same thing, so where are the extra votes for Kerry going to come from or where can they be taken away from bush? I heard on the radio that there are 90,000 ballots that are spoiled/unreadable that will not be examined UNLESS there is a re-count. I'm not even sure what the final deficit was. I know some of you know something more about this.

2. Speaking O heard on the radio...
I just heard on the Randi Rhodes show that they are unable to account for 93,000 extra votes placed for Bush in Coyuga(sp?) County -- can this be substantiated or is this the same as the absentee debacle caused by the way they are counting votes in that county??

3. Not too clear
I wish Randi was feeling better...
The extra votes appear to be Absentee ballots that are redistributed throughout the county. That at least is the line we're being fed at the moment.

10. Hi Eric J in MN
I believe Kerry only needs to find roughly 68,000, "fraudulent" votes to win OHIO.

P.S. I'm from MN also.

6. There are 93,000 that registered no vote for pres or an overvote
Only if they are hand recounted will the intent of the voter come in. Ohio apparently has standards in place unlike FL.

However just the process of putting punchcard ballots back through a counting machine, "shakes out" additional votes because hanging chads fall off.

There are 156,000 provisional ballots. I do not recall the number of absentee and definitely do not know whta percentage are overseas civilian vs oversease military. The expat vote is presumably heavy for Kerry. I suspect soldiers in Iraq may have voted the quickest route home, ie. Kerry.

8. I haven't seen any stats on
who the military voted for. I could see ex-pats voting heavily for Kerry and alot of college students vote absentee and they should be for Kerry.

11. OR, donate through the 527 that DUers who spearheaded all this
set up. That way you'll be absolutely sure your money is going to fund recounts (tho Nader contributions need to go through him directly):

They need to hit $150,000 to cover the cost of the recount.

They're halfway there.

If everybody in this forum gave $50, $20, $10, or $5 they'd hit
their goal before the end of the weekend.

I gave $20 -- it feels good. Do it!

Let's go DU

Be sure to indicate the donation is for the Ohio Recount Fund.
