Olbermann covering exit polling screw-up
His latest blog post on the difference between the exit polls and the selection results (selection my word not his):

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6210240/

He said he plans to cover this tonight.

We know what that means, wink wink. Methinks the 'margin of error' just got a whole lot bigger.

3. greg palast has a new article up!

KERRY WON OHIO
JUST COUNT THE BALLOTS AT THE BACK OF THE BUS
"This is the first time in four decades that a political party has systematically barred -- in this case successfully -- hundreds of thousands of Black voters from access to the voting booth. While investigating for BBC Television, we obtained three dozen of the Republican Party's confidential "caging" lists, their title for spreadsheets listing names and addresses of voters they intended to block on any pretext.
We found that every single address of the thousands on these Republican hit lists was located in Black-majority precincts. You might find that nasty and racist. It may also be a crime.
But that didn't stop the Republicans of '04. Their legally questionable mass challenge to Black voters is not some low-level dirty tricks operation of local party hacks. Emails we obtained show the lists were copied directly to the Republican National Committee's chief of research and to the director of a state campaign."

OMG this is horrible!!

18. shelley806, you know what else I think? I think if we find out who the eff
made that Homeland Security/FBI call to that precinct, can't remember the name, would probably lead to a whistleblower if that person is found and arrested! This could very well also be a major key in Ohio!

That was in Warren County.... Heavily Republican county in the Republican stronghold of southwest Ohio.

The reporter that broke that story was Erica Solvig of the Cincinatti Enquirer.

and MSNBC regular. He is on Countdown a lot. Seems to be non-partisan. He'll probably have a better analysis of the scholars' work than opposing scholars would have. Plus, Keith tries to avoid shouting matches on the program.

They were on the home page but now they are gone. Perhaps someone has the link and can email it over to Mr. Congressional Quarterly and also to Keith. I think he could benefit from seeing this since it shows clearly, the differences in exit polls VS actual comparing e-voting states to non-evoting states. Don't these guys do any research first?

Schuster would, but has to go with the editorial decisions made higher up. I hope Schuster continues to blog on it, though.

Maybe better that Matthews didn't do it. I don't think he would give it anywhere near the gravity or interest that Olbermann has.

30. good interview imo
Crawford actually used the words "fraud" and "conspiracy."

Crawford said that there would have to be intent to defraud and that it would have to be proven. Or a squealer would have to coe forward or a whistleblower. Unlikely in his opinion.

Keith pointed out the differences between the two studies and emphasized that stats that said the odds of all the exit polls being wrong on the same night were extremely small (250 mill to 1).

wonderful job disseminating our message.

Honestly, I feel like I have to slap my forehead in disgust whenever I catch myself saying something like "our message," since the pursuit of truth shouldn't just be a left-wing, Democratic behaviour pattern; it should be the goal of any person of integrity, regardless of party loyalty.

Hopefully Matthews can bring the low grumbles up to conversation-level with his choice to tackle the fraud issue.

did you see the look on his face?

In his blog he remarked that while everyone else wanted time off after the election, he felt rather renewed (by the oddball and newsmakers stuff).

If he needs the time off he should take it of course. But sadly that means a whole week for this theft story to die a slow death.

Maybe he'll at least keep blogging on it.

48. Keith got the name of the UPenn professor wrong.
He kept saying "Johnson," but it's Steven F. Freeman. I'd have wondered if there were two UPenn profs doing exit poll analyses if he hadn't repeated (several times) the 2.5million-to-1 odds of this happening. He also mentioned Freeman's point about exit polls being used in Mexico, Georgia (ex-USSR) and elsewhere as a check against vote fraud.

I wish he had at least given the web address of the Freeman paper. And explained better the limitations of the CalTech-MIT paper. And Craig Crawford was awful. I seriously doubt that he has even read the papers he was giving his useless opinion on.

I'm VERY glad Keith is doing these nightly reports, but tonight's was downright sloppy. And I'm SICK of it all being labeled "conspiracy theory."

Still, it's better than nothing. And there is still time. I hope.

Oh--for those of you who can't watch, try to get the transcripts at msnbc.com and go to the front page of the show. The tab for transcripts is at the top. It usually takes a few days to be posted.

65. damn. This better not be the higher up's way of squashing the story
He just said in his blog he was energized. And he had a funny look on his face when Monica told him he won a vacation. He said "You mean you don't come to work?"

Plus he just said the other day his bosses were supportive.

If this is a lame attempt to silence him, it won't work. He knows he is the only one carrying this story.

If he takes an unexpected week off now that even he himself did not seem to be aware of, I will be highly suspicious of msnbc.

Of course, it could have just been Monica's way of being nice since everyone else has taken time off after the Selection.

Guess we'll find out Monday.
