They are still polls. Pollsters don't ask everyone who voted how they voted, they only ask a random sampling, and if their sampling is wrong, just like regular polls, the exit polls will be wrong.
I'm hoping they slant too much to Bush, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. There's a lot of work left to do before we party.
One more worry-- if Bush is going to steal this election, the votes will differ from the exit polls, because people will say they voted one way, but their votes will be counted another. That's why the exit polls in Florida were wrong. They were right about how people tried to vote, just not about how votes were counted.
Let's keep the pressure on, the energy up, and the suspicious eye ready for any shenanigans.
I still see a victory in the making. We were all excited around here in 2002 when voter turnout and exit polling and anecdotes from friends seemed to be going our way, but it all turned that night. Then the Freepers laughed at our meltdown. What's different this time is the reactions of those in the know-- Bush's camp, the pundits, etc. They seem to think they are in trouble. In 2002 they were still confident at this point.
