New form to spam your friends, w/ compiled links to info |
You can use the following to solicit help. It includes a request to sign the petition to Congress, plus links to info about how to donate, how to volunteer, links to statistical analyses & good articles, plus a form letter and addresses for gov. and media types--all kinda-sorta succinctly. If you find this useful, pls spread word.
Dear Friends: We need QUICK action--we need folks to sign the petition to Congress immediately, if they haven't already done so. The decision by Congress could come as soon as THIS MONDAY (Nov. 15th). Please read the first part of this message about the petition, then eyeball the rest. If you are in general agreement, please let the FIRST thing you do be to FORWARD this to as many people as possible who might sign the petition. NEXT, pls sign the petition yourself, if you have not already done so. When you have done these things, pls then take a look at the additional, updated info and resources set out below. The form letter I sent before is included, plus EXPANDED contact info, and I've fixed some of the truncated webpage addresses. As you will see, evidence of the need for investigation continues to mount. Meanwhile, our efforts to focus attention on that evidence are working! But we need to continue to expand our support and keep the pressure ON. (Pls copy and paste the webpage addresses into your browser, and be sure to get the address--some extend onto more than one line.) Thank you all! --Carolyn If you have not already done so, SIGN PETITION HERE: http://www.petitiononline.com/uselect/petition.html From http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=203x47191: "Six prominent members of Congress have requested an investigation into the integrity of the vote. The decision could come as soon as Monday. Sign our petition demanding a full investigation into whether the election was conducted honestly or not. Also, share your personal story if you have one -- members of Congress will use it in their call for an investigation" “Then please invite your friends and colleagues to sign, as well. We need to show Congress that hundreds of thousands of Americans are serious about protecting the integrity of the vote.” Why signing the petition is vitally important: http://bellaciao.org/en/article.php3?id_article=4306 Here's the second letter from members of the House Judiciary Committee to the General Accounting Office requesting an official investigation (the petition is in support of this request): http://www.house.gov/judiciary_democrats/gaoinvestvote2 ____________ UPDATED INFO AND RESOURCES DONATE to help fund efforts: To donate SPECIFICALLY to fund the recount: www.helpamericarecount.org There are other orgs you can donate that may contribute to recount costs, but as I understand, they are not obligated to put ALL the money toward the recount. What I understand to be the best place to donate to fund FOIA requests: www.blackboxvoting.org VOLUNTEER: Great new site and task force: http://www.ballotintegrity.org GET THE WORD OUT: If you scroll down far enough, you'll find a version of our form letter, expanded media and gov't contacts, and other info. Some good questions for the media are at the following address. If you use these, I'd limit to highpoints and convert to calmer yet serious tone; but there's great material here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=47053&mesg_id=47053 Free image hosting: http://www.imageshack.us They'll store JPG, GIF, and PNG images, plus Shockwave animations up to a megabyte in size. STATISTICAL EVIDENCE: A Nov. 11 report on the "exit poll anomalies": http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=19390&mesg_id=19390 Research paper cited Nov. 11 as a BuzzFlash News Alert, PDF copy of paper posted at Buzzflash. Statistical study done by Steven Freeman, MIT PhD on faculty of Univ. of Pennsylvania, studies poll data from OH, PA and FLA. Title: The Unexplained Exit Poll Discrepancy Link: http://www.buzzflash.com/alerts/04/11/ale04090.html He calculates the odds against the observed exit poll anomalies in these three states as 250,000,000 to one. Excerpt from his conclusion: Systematic fraud or mistabulation is a premature conclusion, but the election's unexplained exit poll discrepancies make it an unavoidable hypothesis, one that is the responsibility of the media, academia, polling agencies, and the public to investigate. Reported at The Raw Story on Nov 8, statistical study done by former MIT math professor. Title: Odds of Bush gaining by 4 percent in all exit polling states 1 in 50,000; Evoting/paper variance not found to be significant Link: http://www.bluelemur.com/index.php?p=405 Excerpts: ...A statistical analysis of exit polling conducted for RAW STORY by a former MIT mathematics professor has found the odds of Bush making an average gain of 4.15 percent among all 16 states included in the media’s 4 p.m. exit polling is 1 in 50,000, or .002 percent.....Anick reasons that there are four possible causes of the “Bush gains.” (1) Significantly greater lying or refusal to speak to pollsters in Bush voters versus Kerry voters; (2) Consistent/systematic errors in weighting demographic groups; (3) A surge of Bush voters after 4 p.m., in all states; (4) Systematic tampering/hacking of reported vote totals, in Bush’s favor. Common Dreams and Move On are also involved. ____________ INTRODUCTORY E-MAIL (use to forward form letter to friends): Hi, there. Below is a form for a letter or e-mail that you can use, plus some new info. As you may be aware, there have been numerous documented reports of problems affecting the recent elections. For now, we can't be certain whether there was significant, systematic tampering that actually changed who won; but unfortunately that possibility cannot be ruled out. However, thousands of dedicated, reputable academics, lawyers, and other good folks all over the country are working very hard to assemble and analyze the evidence. We don't know what the results of an official investigation might be, but it is painfully clear that such an investigation is needed. If you have speakers on your computer, you can see the first t.v. news on this matter at: http://homepage.mac.com/duffyb/nobush/iMovieTheater270.html. It does a pretty good job of covering some of the many known problems or discrepancies as of Nov. 9. Another great starting point for info is here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_U.S._Election_controversies_and_irregularities#Evidence_of_electronic_voting_bias If there's a continuing outcry by enough of us, an official investigation will be commenced. Regardless of the outcome, we must find out more about what happened and how to fix the problems so we can be assured of the integrity of our system. I think for now, the best thing we can do is to e-mail or contact both our governmental representatives (both federal and state) and the key media outlets. Many of these folks are already being flooded with e-mails and letters--probably the main reason that hints at the problems have finally begun to surface in the media. We've got to keep up the pressure. Here is a form letter you can use (feel free to revise), and below is contact info for some people to e-mail or send it to. Even if you've never written such folks before, I urge you to do so now, and to continue to do so until our concerns about election integrity have been satisfied. I will also include below in this message some addresses to webpages with additional info. And IF YOU HAVE ANY INFORMATION about any kind of problem in connection with the election, please report it to vri@dnc.org (this is per a request from Kerry's brother, Cameron Kerry) and at http://www.blackboxvoting.org (the latter is Bev Harris's site, the woman who spearheaded most folks' awareness of the problems with paperless machines). PLEASE pass this on to everyone you think might help, and thanks! FORM LETTER: Dear _______________: I am writing to urge you to call for investigation of possible tampering with the tabulations of votes in the recent election and other reported problems. (Information on these problems can be found at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2004_U.S._Election_controversies_and_irregularities#Evidence_of_electronic_voting_bias.) Like most of us, I would be vastly relieved if I could be confident that no significant tampering or obstruction occurred. But the problems and discrepancies appear so serious, that I believe thorough investigation and analysis are necessary (and as soon as possible), both in order to restore public confidence and to assure the future integrity of our election process. Fisher has evidence, he says, not only that the Florida election was hacked, but of who hacked it and how. And not just this year, he said, but that these same people had previously hacked the Democratic primary race in 2002 so that Jeb Bush would not have to run against Janet Reno, who presented a real threat to Jeb, but instead against Bill McBride, who Jeb beat." Etc. Jeb beat." Etc. |
