2. Maybe voting machines should have to show ID's before we can use them

3. Actually...this is a very good point!
Why should citizens produce mandatory IDs, while the election officials aren't required to reveal the identities of the technicians who program the machines? Why must the software remain a secret?

7. "Better machines-DREs with paper trails" yuck
and they refer to electionline as a source of info, and that org
pushes electronic voting.

the article also recommends ditching paper poll books in favor of
electronic poll books.

If you use e-poll books, you need a paper backup.

8. There was a lot to NOT like in that article.
As happy as I am to see it, and surprised at some of the things it reported, there were a number of inaccuracies and really bad calls they had no business making.

10. I know...
But my hope is that the uninformed may begin to think about the topic.

I was shocked talking to an MIT grad/Democrat last night who had NEVER heard of problems with electronic voting. I hardly knew where to begin...

12. Agreed.
While some will cling like dogs to a bone to incorrect info they gleaned. Others are able to evolve and refine their understanding.

While not rocket science, all this stuff is fairly complex.
