Alabama Secretary Chapman Says Voter Fraud Reports Continue
Montgomery Advitiser
August 5, 2008

Secretary of State Beth Chapman says just two months after the June primary election and 65 business days prior to the November presidential general election, new allegations of voter fraud continue on a weekly basis. More than ten new complaints have come in during the past two weeks alone.

Chapman says that the website, www.stopvoterfraudnow.com, and toll-free number, 1-800-274-VOTE have been instrumental in receiving the allegations.

"Voter Fraud is one big business in Alabama that needs to be shut down," Chapman said. "Dead people can not vote, and those living over the age of 18 who are Alabama citizens and citizens of the United States of America should only vote once” she continued. Chapman says she will do everything within her power to "ensure that fair and honest elections prevail."

Absentee voting and selling votes appear to be the biggest conduits for recent voter fraud allegations.

1. Voter fraud is not near the problem as Election Fraud is.
Voter fraud is a straw man argument.

2. ***TEN*** votes ?!? BIG. FUCKING. DEAL.
Electronic voting machines can steal more votes than there are registered voters in nanoseconds.

3. Former Hale County Circuit Clerk Gay Nell Tinker was charged on a 13-count indictment.
There are ongoing investigations and allegations in Greensboro., Marion, Lowndes, Bullock, Jackson, and Perry counties relating to vote buying and abuse of absentee ballots. All of this = 10 votes?

Care to share where you are getting TEN votes from?

4. The OP said "ten complaints", I overinterpreted as ten individual votes ...

The actual article mentions much in the way of ALLEGATIONS, mostly made through a Web site (so we know they must be reliable!), not so much evidence, much less proof ... allegations of VOTER fraud are Repugs favorite way of steering attention away from possible ELECTION fraud. See, we're doing something about dishonest voting!! Look over there! Watch the shiny object! Ignore that man behind the curtain slipping a memory card into the voting machine!

Chapman has written to officials at the U.S. Department of Justice asking them to send the maximum number of poll observers possible to Alabama for the November general election.

So Mukasey's minions will be covering the poll stations like slime ... what wonderful news!

ON EDIT:
There are ongoing investigations and allegations in Greensboro., Marion, Lowndes, Bullock, Jackson, and Perry counties

Which is NOT in the OP, or the article.

5. Agreed this is the Repugs' tact. Most troubling is the abuse of absentee ballots.

In some parts of the South, it is known that workers vote absentee under duress. Their employers insist they (employees) bring their ballots to work so that they know how their employees are voting.

The Justice Dept. was present this year in Alabama and parts Mississippi because of their histories of notorious election fraud.

The other counties were widely reported recently in several news stories.

6. HOOOOOly crap. Never heard that one before.
"Their employers insist they (employees) bring their ballots to work so that they know how their employees are voting."

That should be illegal about eight different ways. Jim Crow writhes again!
