Have votes ever switched from repub to Democrat?
Just curous. Has there been any instances of the machines switching votes from a Republican to a Democrat.

Because for all the stories I have heard of votes switching from Dem to repub, I can't find any of the other way around.

But if these were random errors, shouldn't the votes switch between the two more of less equally?

So how do the cons explain this?

3. There will be one machine somewhere that will do that and that one machine will
be hyped like all of them are switching votes from Repug to Dem.
And you will just know that a news camera will happen to be trained on that machine when it does the switch. Amazing that.

4. Reports from Brad Friedman and Mark Crispin Miller:
Brad Friedman reports vote-flipping in Texas (http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6559), which
now makes three states where the e-voting machinery has changed would-be Obama votes
to votes for John McCain. The other two are West Virginia, where the trend reportedly
began, and Tennessee.

From Tennessee there's also a report that three would-be McCain voters had their votes
flipped to Obama:

http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2008/10/ess-voting-mach.html

Now, such a thing is not unheard-of, as there were a few reports four years ago of Bush
votes flipped to Kerry (although roughly nine out of ten flips went the other way).

Still, there is some noteworthy controversy over that report from Tennessee:

These debunking claims are, however, not conclusive, as Jason Parry notes:

I've found no evidence backing up these
debunking claims. They sound correct, but I haven't been able
to establish these claims about mother / father-in law.

What I do know is that this GOP story is spreading in TN
and it appears to be more high level GOP party officers
reporting similar problems in more TN counties.

I will also say that any time you have two names next to
each other on a touchscreen you can make it appear to
flip. The question is how bad is the calibration and who
it appears to favor. Also, depending on the setup, short
people might touch lower and tall people touch higher
on the glass.

In any case, let's all keep our eyes wide open.

5. Not Repub to Dem that I know of. But Repub to Repub in a primary, yes.

6. Supposedly yes
I heard that the other day, somewhere here in Tennessee, there were machines flipping from rep to dem. I figure that they just did this to be able to say that it happens on both sides. They know that there is no way that Obama will get Tn.'s electoral college votes. Damn shame too.

7. As I've already posted here, that TN "votes flipped to Obama" story is bullshit.
Here's the link:

BTW, in 2004, I believe there was only a single case of vote-flipping to Kerry from Bush that came in from New Mexico. I don't know if that report was ever verified. All other reports I am aware of in 2004 involved votes flipping from Kerry to somewhere else.

8. "Have votes ever switched?" No, never. Votes don't switch, people switch the votes
whether it is by maligned programming of ballot box stuffing of some sort.

In 2004 the third-party tallies clearly illustrated how votes counted other than as intended, so YES there certainly were some Bush votes counted for Kerry.

What matters though is the balance sheet bottom line!!
That is not random when other variables are not random either.
