In Memory of Andy Stephenson

A good man, a tireless activist, and for too short a time, a friend.

A Fight to the EndVoting-rights activist Andy Stephenson, 43, dies.
George Howland Jr.
Published on July 13, 2005

Voting-rights activist Andy Stephenson was so full of life it seems impossible that he is dead. Surrounded by his life partner, Ted Edmondson, and members of his family, Stephenson passed away on Thursday, July 7, at Seattle's Virginia Mason Medical Center. The Seattle resident was 43.

The Life and Tragic Times of An American Activist
By Carol Sterritt
On May 12th, Andy Stephenson believed that he was heading for life-saving surgery. Who stopped his needed medical operation from taking place? And why does this matter so much to so many voting rights organizers?

All-time American patriotic "good guy" Andy Stephenson passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2005 at 6:27 EST/9:27 PST after a rather short but heroic bout with pancreatic cancer. The many thousands who understood his cause and who contributed to the cost of his operation proved the effect he was having upon citizens from coast to coast. It was their "thank-you."

My bar has been running this neat gimmick for several years now. If you drink every kind of beer they have in the place - about 130 labels when you combine the bottles, the taps and the unutterably wretched stuff they keep buried under the dumpster out back - your reward is a 25-ounce mug that can be filled from the taps for the regular pint price. Moreover, you get to emboss your mug with the name of your favorite author. The only caveat: the author has to be dead.

4. also the victim of a malicious campaign to freeze the donations for his surgery
wonder if Paypal would have frozen the funds if Andy's former employer
had NOT posted on her website that Andy wasn't really sick?

5. Not to mention that she did not make his paycheck withholdings
payments so he could not get benefits due him, and she did not provide his W-4 so he was unable to file for tax refunds due him. She witheld his money from his checks but did not deposit them until she was forced to after he was dead.
