Voted for the first time...

My polling place is out of the way in the country around a lake community. They said they were lucky to get 300 voters the entire day in the past and the voting machine recorded my vote in the 460's at noon. They were a little shell-shocked -- the room is the size of a doctor's waiting room.

Voted with no trouble, we have optical scan fill-in-the-oval ballots and they are simple and easy to read. They are put in a cardboard sleeve where a worker assists you to feed it into the tabulator which is something like a copy machine, and you can see the ballot count increase by one to register that it's received it.

I don't know why every polling place doesn't use this method. Simple, effective, only requires one (or more) machines to receive ballots which are locked inside for a paper trail.
