Official recount to be requested in Florida county today
"Today, Black Box Voting representatives plan to officially request a hand-count in Volusia County to see the ballots in at least 50 precincts. That could involve election officials holding up thousands of ballots individually for those in the audience to see."

5. would it have any legal standing as far as the result is concerned though
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 02:04 PM by ahyums
far as I know this will still be in FOIA capacity which means its for information purposes only. It's great that it's happening but I think there should be a formal contest as well and the time for that is running out rapidly

8. I think that you are right about this

How likely is it that the recount she has requested would take place before Wednesday the 24th, which is the deadline for a contest to be filed in federal court (based on the fact that Glenda Hood certified the vote on Sunday the 14th)?

9. I think how it works is...

(correct me if I'm wrong) that based on the FOIA count results, one could file a suit against the county to perform an official recount. If this were to happen, other suits could be filed to force a recount in other counties as well if proper justification was presented.

I'm not sure what the laws are with regards to timing.

7. Fantastic
Whatever the results, Bev Harris deserves a Hero of Democracy award.

By the way, did anyone else notice that the reporter for the linked story is named Cindy Crawford? I was wondering what she was up to these days.

11. Fraud.
Seems to me if fraud is found out alot of the usual rules as to deadlines, etc. should not apply.

12. There she goes ago, saving our world of Democracy

I love you Bev, my herion for sure. I hope all citizens appreciate your hard work in seeking justice in our voting system. We must do something for her to show our appreciation. Who has a good ideal for it, perhaps a march up in DC ?? What about it ?? A freedom of election march in her name, the BlackBoxVoting March.

Might be better to contribute funds to hire some armed bodyguards for her.
