WA. GOP chair warns of trouble if Gov's elections turns.
State GOP Chairman Chris Vance said angry Republicans called his office screaming on Wednesday, convinced the election was about to be "stolen."

Vance warned of trouble if the recount puts Gregoire ahead of Rossi: "If this election turns over, I'm going to have a hard time keeping Republicans calm."

http://www.komotv.com/stories/34052.htm

What, if the recount wins it for Gregoire are they going to refuse to accept the results?

1. We can tell them to just "get over it"...
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 08:05 PM by Siflnolly
I'd say that there is a good chance that the results could flip. rossi only leads by 261 votes, and there was already a problem discovered that changed the differential by 500 votes in the initial count, how many more are hiding out there...

Dimwit. Can't you control your own children?

Edit: I followed the advice above and sent an e-mail. I hope she does use this opportunity to stress the importance of counting every vote:

"Dear Ms. Gregoire:

Please request a hand recount, not a machine recount. (I know you are probably aware of the discrepancies which may arise from a machine recount.)

I am troubled by State GOP Chairman Vance's intimidating declaration, ""If this election turns over, I'm going to have a hard time keeping Republicans calm." I urge you to leave no stone unturned, and to take the opportunity to remind all Americans that our forefathers died for our right to vote, and that any vote which is not counted makes a mockery of their sacrifice.

Best of luck to you, Ms. Gregoire."

16. They can always request another recount can't they
or take it to court. If Gregoire wins fair and square, what are we supposed to do, put someone in office who didn't win because a bunch of bullys squeal like pigs? This is about who wins the citizens votes according to the laws of the land, not "keeping" anyone "calm." This just demonstrates again that the Republicans think they have some imperial right to office no matter what American citizens votes are.

I don't imagine there is a Democrat here who would oppose the winner of a lawful election, no matter how much we might hate the results.

21. missing the point
when we question the announced results of an election we are nuts.

the repubs are already saying that if a recount of the actual ballots shows the dem winning there will be trouble, they are already shouting that it was stolen - and no tin hats are mentioned by the author at all.

25. From Washington State Democrats:
Just received from the Washington State Democrats:

Dear Friend,

As we head into a machine recount, events are changing fast. I wanted to keep you updated on new developments.

With only 261 votes separating Chris Gregoire and Dino Rossi out of 2.9 million cast, our race is at a tie. For that reason, every action we take is of vital importance.

Yesterday I asked you to send in reports of voting irregularities. Thanks to all of you who wrote in. Your vigilance is critical to securing the integrity of the voting process.

As someone who has worked on elections my entire life, I am alarmed by what we have learned.

· Many of you reported problems with voting machines in your precinct on Election Day. In a few instances we have received reports of ballot counting machines breaking down. We must make sure that these votes are accurately recorded.

· We have reports of precincts that have reported more votes than the precinct has registered voters.

· In King County, three precincts checked their machine counts against manual counts. Where voters had checked their candidate instead of filling out the oval, the machine count failed to count their vote.

· The data we are collecting from auditors includes typos, and other incorrect or missing information. In each instance we need to track down the source of the problem. They could represent simple mistakes in reporting or worse, they could represent uncounted votes.

With problems such as these, the likelihood that we will need a manual recount is growing.

You have been very generous already, but we still need your help. In order to request a manual recount, counties must be paid up front.

Its also not too late to let us know of any problems you have witnessed. Please email jaxon@wa-democrats.org to report any concerns or problems.

We need your help! The future of our state is in your hands.

Again, I thank you for your hard work. Let?s keep it up.

Sincerely,

Paul Berendt
Chair
Washington State Democrats

The election returns are suspicious as hell, so I am hoping and emailing for a manual recount, at the very least in King County.

A manual recount would appear to be necessary and it's going to turn ugly when the Rossi campaign starts trying to disqualify lightly shaded bubbles and the like.

Need I say more?

They knew it would be too outrageous to steal Washington State, so they were going to settle for the Governor's seat this year, and if they get it, you can be sure they will steal Washington in 2008.

Please, please e-mail Gregoire and tell her we must have a hand recount!

Hand recount is automatic in Washington state when an election is this close. They have already started doing the hand recount. No need to email anyone, unless you just want to offer support.

Thats what the repug chairman is complaining about that if the hand recount that just started overturns the election there will be trouble form the republicans

This won't get hand recounted unless Gregoire and Dems request it.

And they should.

43. Should any election be overturned in favor of a Democrat - repeat after me
Assuming you'd be speaking to a repuke --

"Now, we all know that the Republican party is a party of morals and values. No one would expect any of your candidates to act in a manner that wasn't respectful and proper. Of course all of your candidates want America's vote to be fair and square. No one would expect any less of your party, right? pResident * is a religious man. He'd NEVER go against the TRUTH, now would he? No, of course not. If he were to find out that in fact, John Kerry won the election fair and square, there is only one thing he could do.
I'm sure that pResident * would step down gracefully, and without protest, as any KKKristian man would. It wouldn't be right to behave in any other way, correct? I mean, as a KKKristan man, * must adhear to the laws of the land and the voice of the people. I just can't imagine him not doing what is right. I'm sure he'd abide by the will of the people and honor their votes. And I'm sure you would agree with me that that is the way this KKKristian man of morals and values would behave."

OK, can I :puke: now? That was SO hard to write. lol.

But, if you did come upon some repuke who was flaming away at an overturned election that resulted in a Dem winning, what better way to put that flame out than by using their own * talking points?
They can't argue with you over the very reason they voted for *!
Here you are, praising (gag) all of *'s wonderful values and how he believes in the truth. I think we should use this tactic if we get lucky (DEAR GOD, please let us get lucky and have the votes to turn it over) because it's going to be UGLY. The only way to fight back is to use their 'values' against them, in a very nice way of course.
