Another bone to chew

Postive piece with a good overview:

Recount efforts in Ohio by Kerry intensify
Adam Stone

A top-ranking official with Democratic Senator John Kerry's presidential campaign told North County News last week that although unlikely, there is a recount effort being waged that could unseat Republican President George W. Bush.

"We have 17,000 lawyers working on this, and the grassroots accountability couldn't be any higher -no (irregularity) will go unchecked. Period," Kerry spokesman David Wade said.

The Ohio vote will be certified on Dec. 3 at the latest, Bobier said.

The Electoral College votes on December 13, so it is unclear whether or not a recount would be completed by then.
However, Jonathan Turley, a professor of constitutional law at George Washington University, told WorldNetDaily.com that "those votes are not opened by Congress until Jan. 6. So there is still time to challenge the results in Ohio."

*****
January 6th huh? Mark your calendars.

1. This is so strange how this how played out
so s l o w l y over the days since the election.

I'm like that one DU poster who said he wanted a whole meal and not just crumbs from fraud discoveries.:P

It really does look like they conceded to make it easier to investigate what they suspected.

6. I underestimated Kerry early on.
But after the Democratic Primary -- not during -- something in him seems to have caught on. Now I realize he's a very canny player in the power game. I wouldn't be surprised to find out he was up to something. I also wouldn't be surprised to see him in the White House.

Just keep in mind: he has very powerful friends. I thought for sure Bush wouldn't steal this election despite his preparations because he was being watched, but I underestimated him as much as I underestimated Kerry. But in this case I underestimated his depravity.

10. Still all talk and no action
Edited on Fri Nov-19-04 11:32 PM by Eloriel
NO ACTION.

"We have 17,000 lawyers working on this, and the grassroots accountability couldn't be any higher -no (irregularity) will go unchecked. Period," Kerry spokesman David Wade said.

I'd like to see SOME result, or just some ACTIVITY that they're engaged in outlined. NADA. Nothing. Zip. Talk, just talk.

The people who ARE working on it are the 3rd Party Candidates, spurred to action by DUers -- IdaBriggs who discovered the NH anomalies in the first place and who with DUer hedda_foil got DUers and Randi Rhodes' listeners to fax Nader to persuade him to request a recount at the last possible minute (literally!).

That then developed into activity in Ohio, thanks to Cobb and Badnerik with the continuing help and involvement of hedda_foil and her colleagues.

What the COBB campaign manager is doing (again, with Help America Recount's help) is getting volunteers, getting them trained, getting observers, getting lawyers, COMPUTER EXPERT TEAMS, etc., etc., etc. -- all the stuff the Kerry campaign might do IF it had it's act together on this stuff. But I hear absolutely NOTHING about the Kerry campaign from hedda (except occasional very well-deserved disdain).

How ironic -- if we are successful in saving democracy from the jaws of these voting machines, it will have been We The People along with Third Party candidates who, not incidentally, will also help save the Democratic Party in the process.

If DUers want this to succeed, contribute to hedda_foil's Help America recount, the 527 set up specifically to help fund recounts. Hedda is also co-founder of the National Ballot Integrity Project. Here are the two links:
