1. Optiscam
Pardon my ignorance, but what is the optiscan? Here in OK we have optical scanners that count the ballots, but the paper ballots still exist if a re-count is needed. This seems like the way to go - you get the benefit of quick-counting, but the paper trail is still there. I can't fathom the Dieblod thing. Even if there was no fraud, there would still be technical glitches.

2. Okay I'm no techie. . .
but my understanding is that even though the optical scanners generate paper, the paper is not examined unless the disparity of the votes is narrow enough to warrant it.

Oh,

And the same insecure and vulnerable software that is used with the touchscreen machines is used to tabulate the optical scanners. If there is fraud and given the disparity between exit polls and votes, there more than likely is, it lies with the tabulation software. That's the data that Bev's desparately trying to unearth from various unsundry waste recepticles around the nation.

Bless her

7. Recounts are HARD to get
In 2000 they refused to let people see scanned cards and just reran them trough again. Bush trusted THOSE machines, distrusted others, as he wished every time so it was. Even though the readings were different because more chads were wearing off they still resisted. State by state is still a hodge podge of whether you can even recount what is there. In Georgia a questionable county was challenged and no recount was allowed by the GOP.

If they dare and they run the margin up and the state is controlled by them so much for your paper trail. Probably can kiss your FOIA goodbye as that too is resisted on the grounds of "hardship", etc. etc.

Don't expect even the clearest HAVA language to cure any of that where it counts(or doesn't).

5. Aw Shucks, we lost again. I know, let's forget about all this BBV...
nonsense and spend the next four years working our hearts out to elect a candidate even closer to Bush. Third time lucky....

/sarcasm way off

How many more times will the Dems get fooled before they figure it out? :-(

On edit - I'm starting to believe that the issue of stolen votes won't be taken seriously until votes are stolen from the gop. I'm not advocating hacking, but believe it's just a matter of time until someone attempts to hack in favor of a non-gop candidate.
