Greetings, my people.
All of you.
To the most uppity of the Deaniacs to the most reserved of the Clarkies. To the hardcore tin-foil hatters, to the faith-based moderates. Black, White, Jew, Muslim, Christian, athiest, gay, straight, and even to all those wackos in the lounge... It sure feels great to be in this big tent with every single one of you!
I just wanted to say how much I appreciate this place - this little harbor of sanity off the rough and deceptive waves of media we have to navigate each day. You all make me proud! May the higher power, whatever name you choose for it, bless you...
It's been a crazy four years, and I am cautiously optimistic that tonight we are going to party (like it's 1999!)
And if I'm right, I wanted to leave a little gift to all of you to remind your Freeper friends, associates, co-workers and family members(shudder!) how it felt for us, last time around.
Remind them that:
The adults are in charge now.
Remind them that:
They will have to GET OVER IT.
And Remind them that:
We now have a President who is going to restore honor and integrity to the White House.
Perhaps even more importantly, I want to remind everyone here, and hopefully this will resonate beyond this little post to all the blogs and beyond...
Even with a Kerry win, the fight is far from over. A Kerry win will intensify and refocus the hatefulness and vitriol of the other side. We must celebrate our victory, but not for too long. We know what they are capable of and they will be geared to go from the moment the election has been decided. We must remain ever alert, ever vigilant.
We still have a long ways to go. But tonight will be one hell of a giant leap.
Good luck out there and in the words of the Magistrate...
"Let's go get those Bush bastards!"
