and no sign of tonight's big developent that we're waiting for. The good news was he didn't belittle the concerns, but by making it so short a segment, didn't do much to get it out there either.

short piece. Said she is doing a forensic investigation of vote counting machines. He also mentioned UCB research and the new federal election commission, said their work is just beginning.

He also said 20% of Americans believe election was fraudulent.

And I am proud to claim membership in that 20% :)

34. YES- Email Aaron to thank him and show support
Considering what we are up against-he did a good job. Please be careful not to bombard him with anger, hysteria, demands about fraud, etc. Our job now is to nurture this-- carefully inspire him to keep this story moving, offer credible, logical, factual, reasoning. We have to provide him with what he needs to continue as the information unfolds. A story perhaps about Velousia County ("dumpster ballots" would be good, maybe a mention about the voter disenfranchisement in Ohio (1 machine per 1000 persons, etc.), an interview with one of the members of Congress who wrote to the GAO Suggest places he can search out that will add credibility so that he can present what he finds to the audience without bias. He's a really terrific reporter- one of the best. Compassionate, insightful and unusually perceptive (in my opinion).

15. No depth but at least it got the idea out there
They noted some of the problems but just acted like it was everyday. Picked bad quotes from a Harvard spokesperson, made no mention of how 80% of the vote is being counted by 4 companies (2 who are headed by brothers, one who swore he'd give Bush Ohio during this election) and subtley suggest the federal government is going to do something about it with some kind of Commission. Yeah right. Another Commission picked by the President.

28. Short, unbiased, carefully reported and hey-- it's a start...
Look at the positive side: There was no mention of conspiracy theory. No one said the word "fraud" (which with 80% of the country supposedly believing the election was fair, would only discredit the story), there was no mention of "overturning the election" (also a good thing for now as it keeps it under the radar), there was nothing patronizing in his tone (Kudos for Aaron!), it looked credible, had a deeply concerning tone and - well OK so was brief (and not the 10-12 minute story Keith has been gifting us with) BUT= IT OPENED THE CONVERSATION and that my friends, is a very good beginning. One step at a time.

53. Editing out nearly ALL the facts IS negative!
Plus Aaron said (with rolling his eyes) that only 20% of America object to the results of the election. He made that 20% ('us') sound like silly tin-foil hats.

Plus he had someone knowledgeable like Bev on, and then didn't cover anything significant with her (like the lawsuits pending, or the bags of voting trash found in Florida).

IF I was just tuning in like most of America was (WITHOUT knowing all BBV and Nader and Dem Ohio, and others in the recount/Fraud investigation have been working on), I would think the 'voting problems' were just something being investigated for 2008, not now.

WHAT a disappointment!:(

Karyn. I, too, like Aaron Brown & feel that this is a start. At least he is breaking the silence @ CNN. I also agree we should not bombard him with angry, negative email, but encourage him to keep this story alive - baby steps, indeed if that is all he is able to do right now. We should recognize that at least he felt the issue was at least worth reporting on - brief as it was. Should be interesting to see if he continues with it.

to hear in a really non-threatening manner that a Harvard professor said we couldn't be sure about 80% of the votes. Also, shows that other people are looking at these issues. Remember, this is the first time some people have heard this info. Verrrrry mainstream people. Not everyone will have heard it, but maybe some more.

33. about as weak a piece as they come...does us no good at all
That 90sec piece was as weak as they get. Those type of vague allegations without giving details of what is suspected make us sound like the UFO and Flat Earth crowd.

What really sucks the most about all of this is no one in power gives a damn about the foundation of voting and democracy based on fair treatment and honesty.

The only way this will explode on the Bush regime is through a mainstream media block buster story citing facts and with a witness or participating turncoat.

The level of frustration is unreal concerning the abnormal results in so many areas across the country.

I will say one thing--congratulations Karl Rove, you bug-eyed bastard...you won FOR NOW AT LEAST...

Hope you guys buried the bodies really well because a lot of smart people outside of government are looking at this 'mandate' you tout so proudly.

Oh yeah, Karl, while you burn in Hell you can thank Saddam for helping your boy become a 'Wartime President'.

48. squash enthusiasm?
The person can't make the same claim that anyone who isn't a "superfan" makes.. like myself..

I've yet to see her produce ANYTHING other than PR campaigns.. a lot of saber rattling and qui tam suit where she stands to profit to 30% of the settlement..

she's lucky he didn't say, "And here's one of the 20%rs who was caught digging through garbage.."

Seriously, will everyone get rational about this? You are putting all your eggs in one basket.. it's just getting nutty..

and anyone that says, "Hey, where are the RESULTS?" gets slammed for "not having anything NICE to say".. it's like the whole Bush mentality..

I'm glad that EVERYONE is out there working on this, but a lot of people here are so hopeful that it's getting to be like a RELIGIOUS creepy thing.. like people claiming that BH is going to be INTERVIEWED on CNN and then what do we get?

6 seconds.

Best of luck to her, but I want RESULTS.

40. I feel the story is not intensifying
It is becoming less intense, KO had it in has last segment, and Zogby totally let me down. Zogby, the guy that is the most accurate pollster in America, coming within one tenth of one millionth percent on the last election. Tonight he says, 'I Got it wrong"

In the meantime the Ukraine is outraged and in the streets (as we should be)

they are calling for a no confidence vote loud and clear in their media (as we should be)

and they will most likely have another election (as we should have)

difference is, their election was two days ago and it is all over the headlines in their MSM, ours was three weeks ago and we're scraping for morsels of coverage on Keith Oberman and Aaron Brown. The MSM here treats the story like one avoids stepping in dogshit.

And thansgiving is in two days -- that day that we celebrate the indians and pilgrims chowing together before we wipe out their race.

For the indigenous people in America, it is a day of mourning. This year, I will join in the mourning.

CNN wouldn't even touch this story before. Now it's on their website and on Aaron Brown's show. AP also wouldn't touch it, now they're covering it. No worries, the coverage is coming. The media won't be able to resist once the lawsuits come out and the Ohio recounts start.

43. Quick Transcript of Aaron Brown Segment on BBV on 11/23/04

We have no reason to believe the election was not fair. But oddly, we have less than perfect confidence that the votes were counted accurately. No one expects 100% accuracy in such things, but how much error is too much error? But perhaps a better question still: will we ever know?

Bev Harris is a citizen activist who first brought national attention to the problems of voter software is now in Florida pursuing internal computer records for what she calls a forensic audit.

Bev Harris: I think we can talk till the cows come home about about what might happen and what could happen and what's theoretical, and the best thing we can do is just go get the records and see what did happen.

She's not alone; a number of experts are now looking, and looking hard. And not only fraud, but the possible effects of simple computer error. The kind of dumb mistake that ruined the Hubble telescope and sent Mars missions astray.

So how accurate was the 2004 vote count?

Rebecca Mercuri: Basically 80% of our votes we really don't know. We haven't taken the time to look into it.

Some examples: in Franklin county, Indiana, a programming error was applying Democratic votes to the Libertarian party. After recount, the winner on Election Night, is now the loser. In North Carolina, over 4000 ballots are gone forever, lost when a voting machine passed it's arbitrary limit. In South Florida, election officials were horrified to see vote totals start counting down as they hit 32,000. But what is even more disturbing, a statistical study done at UC Berkley, that there could have been similar counting problems in all Florida counties that used touch screen voting machines.

Rebecca Mercuri: The type of testing that you need is really being done at election day, as opposed to being done before Election Day.

In Washington today, in an office so new you could still smell the carpet glue, the Federal Election Assistance Comission admits it is only beginning the process of creating national standards.

Deforest Soaries: Every electronic voting machine that was used this year was certified against standards that were 1990 standards.

The Chairman promises intensive federal audits. Audits to guarantee, eventually, voter confidence.

Deforest Soaries: We're going to go down to the ground on this, much further than we've ever gone before. I don't take the opinion, and neither does my comission, that what you don't know won't hurt you.

AB: And the debate will go on...

55. EXACTLY and that is the spin we want!
We will never win over a die hard Bushite- forget it- it's impossible. But we have a pretty good chance of winning over those who are still disappointed, those who instinctively knew something was wrong (these folks will JUMP ON IN A MINUTE) and those who, once presented with the facts, will see how any rational, educated person should be Very concerned.
