New Postings on ChuckHerrin.com
Hi DUers,

This is Chuck Herrin, the Republican "White-Hat Hacker" guy. If you're interested, I have two new postings for 11/23/2004:

"Empathy Training for Liberals: A Primer on the Conservative Mind, From the Inside of One."

Primarily designed to help shed some light on why the Republicans are, for the most part, ignoring the voting fraud issue, straight from the mind of a (admittedly somewhat unusual) Red State Republican who hangs around other Red State Republicans who talk a lot about Nascar and wear a lot of Camo. When these guys talk about magazines, they don't mean the kind with pages. They mean the kind with bullets :)

and

"Empathy Training for Compassionate Conservatives: Why the Democrats Are Still Whining About the Election.(and why maybe we should be, too)"

Designed to help Conservatives understand what the big deal is, from the point of view of a fellow Conservative. May be good for use with that NRA member brother-in-law :-)

If you decide to stop by, I hope you find them interesting.

By the way - keep up the great work! I know you'll laugh at this, but I just learned about DU about 3 weeks ago, and I really admire the great things you guys are doing to protect our Democracy for all of us.

Peace,

Chuck

1. Discovered your site last night and ...
you rock. Thanks. I'm a computer pro too (developer). I hadn't known about Jeffrey Dean. Good lord, that made me physically ill.

We really need to convince more people that the default position is not "i trust the election until i have reason not to." Rather, it truly is that no sane person (armed with the info you and others present) has any reason at all to trust the election.

4. Chuck, can you use your hacking insider experience
I saw your website yesterday, and was really interested. Can't you use your hacking experience to take it up a notch and appeal to the media's sensationalism? Can't you get onto CNN or something by claiming to have firsthand hacking knowledge about the election- show them stuff from your "how to do it" page the way Bev did with Howard Dean? Also, I am curious if you have tried to infiltrate that group that has been accused of hacking the system in Florida- those kids from the rehab program that Jeb Bush was on the board of directors for (along with several other high profile Republicans). I read something about that, and thought, if it's true, can't some other hacker get cozy with, or at least, find a connection to them, and see if they boast or respond to a reward offer? I have no idea as to the validity, but would like someone, preferrably a fellow hacker to the kids, to at least sniff along that trail.

6.  I've been TRYING........
But the MSM still isn't interested. I've been talking and emailing everyone I can. The good news is that I'm stepping up in NC and meeting with my state officials, but so far coverage from Olbermann and others has been nil.

Thanks!

5. Hi Chuck.
Hi Chuck,

Thank you for the posts! Fair, accurate and transperent elections is an issue that truly reaches across the aisle. While I personally suspect most Republicans will hate bush within the next two years, I think we can all agree that the importance of knowing these funky election results and the even funkier voting machines, etc. are not responsible for putting this highly controversial person back into that office.

The circumstances that surround Mr. Bush, this election, and the 2000 election, in which the media finally counted the votes through FOIA requests and determined Gore had the votes if the recount were to continue, should help Republicans understand that our concerns may very well be valid. Bush was sworn in, but Gore was in fact the choice of the people, had we actually spent the time being accountable to each other.

The questions surrounding this administration are growing exponentially. With everything from unexplainable circumstances and data surrounding 9/11 to possible war crimes charges to possible manipulation of the voting system, etc., many have a very difficult time accepting this person as the leader of their country. Even so, if the vote made sense none of us would have a leg to stand on.

The key is accountability. If the vote results were somehow manipulated, would anyone risk having that type of leadership running our country? This isn't about Mr. Bush, per se, or Sen. Kerry; it is about maintaining a critical tool of democracy: our vote.

Anyway, a small note turned into an essay, so I will cut it here. Thank you again for your work! :) Obviously it has struck a chord.

Warmly,

George

7. Good to have you here.
I have been using your site as a reference for getting a-political computer people interested in the hack-the-vote issue.

Just skimmed through the "Empathy Training for Liberals" page. A lot of very good stuff there.

Thanks.

And you're right, we ALL should be concerned about the election process. Republicans who believe Bush won fair and square should also want a process that can never put the results of an election into question again.

I've got a link to your site here (under "Investigations"): http://shadowbox.i8.com/stolen.htm

Also, anyone wanting the link to Chuck's site:

I really feel there was fruad and the election was stolen. I don't blame the republicans who voted for B*ush even though I don't understand their logic. We are not talking about Reagan here. Remember the Reagan democrats? Well I didn't get them either. At least I know Reagan was fairly elected as was Clinton even though I didn't vote for him, I voted for Perot. (so much for the republican theory that Perot took votes away from the republicans)I hate B*sh's policies but I really hate the fact that he didn't win. It's sort of a double edged sword. I'm glad he really lost but the same time I'm upset that he really lost and will still be in office as of January 20th. I would feel a whole heck better if B*sh really did win even though I would think the majority who voted for him were morons. I felt this way about Reagan and Bush Sr too. That's the problem, He really didn't win. I think I'm more upset that democracy died on November 2 and It didn't get a proper burial. It's like we have a zombie democracy, alive on the outside but dead on the inside with it's soul burning in hell. Just for the record I was a ABB voter for Kerry. I'm not in love with Kerry's policies either, but I would be willing to give him a shot knowing in a legitimate election I could boot his butt out if he didn't do what he promised. If the shoe were on the other foot, I would be just as upset and angry that the person people voted for was not selected and who was selected was by Diebold and not the people. It's just like that one electorate in West Va or Va who said he wouldn't vote for Bush if he won. That is wrong, you vote for whomever the people voted for PERIOD.
