The Times is screwing us too
As you know by now even the New York Times is ignoring this story. They didn't even run a story about the GAO investigation today. I thought for sure they would have a GAO story today...they don't even have a tiny brief or blurb. They have nothing. Screw them.

1. The paper of broken record.
Don't count on the NY Times for anything, they showed their true colors during the run-up to the Iraq war. :grr:

4. I am cancelling my Times subscription. I will write them to tell them why.
I'm tired of waiting for this paper, one that I once admired, to live up to it's reputation as the paper of record. They are running scared. Except for a few choice editorials once and awhile they are not worth the paper they are printed on, and actually, unbelievably, at this point, do more harm than good, in their efforts to not appear to be taking sides. Bite me NYT. This needs to be a large effort to boycott the paper however and handwritten letters of cancellation with reasons given. Does anyone know however, whether or not they still get some revenue if you read the paper occasionally online even though you've cancelled your physical paper?

7. my journalism prof
told us that the papers recieve no financial compensation from online readership. I am not 100% proof positive on that - but that's what she told me. She said it was a HUGE threat to the field of journalism because there is no $$ to be made online.

10. well, how about
the ads that pop up while you are browsing the paper? Don't they get paid for them?

According to how many hits they get?

11. Tell your prof this: They get your name,
your email, you get to be brainwashed by their propoganda, you look at ads and pop-ups, they charge for archived articles etc. Nothing is free...

8. I cancelled mine, bunny, and wrote them why. They REALLY need to know
that there are a lot of us. Hit em in the pocketbook! I've been without for a week now, and no withdrawal pains. Krugman's out on a book tour anyway. Get your news online, unfiltered. It feels good!

5. They also ignored the huge anti-Bush protests
at the Coronation in 2001 and discounted large numbers of protesters at anti-war marches.

6. And it should give us an idea
of the scale what we are up against. The NYT aids and abets the evil-doers, and indeed may well be part and parcel of the evildoers.
