The right wing nut jobs have bragged and gloated,
Edited on Wed Nov-24-04 11:19 AM by In_Transit
until they are almost convinced that they won fair and square. It IS sickening. Many have accepted the election as it now stands, except those of us here.If the recount indicated a reversal, most would ignore it, the media would try to sweep it under the rug,the un-informed moderates would hold on to a Bushco victory and claim sour grapes, and the Bible thumpers would fight and die in the name of Jesus Christ. It would take a revolution or Civil War.I'm not sure that would be so bad, but it would be messy.
I believe that we should concentrate on a House and Senate sweep in '06 and hand Bushco what Jesse Helms and Lauch Faircloth and the rest of the Right wing nuts tried to hand Bill Clinton. Impeachment. Complete with our version of Ken Star. How sweet that that would be, because, I believe there are solid grounds,(unlike in Clinton's case) in this case, for impeachment.
This is all of course in my own frustrated but honest opinion.

2. If The Election Process Is Not Fixed and Now 2006 Will Not Matter...
the Republicans cement America as a one party state if nothing changes.

3. Im sorry but I think you are missing something crucial
The machinery is RIGGED. It will only get worse in 06 and beyond.
Not only will we not take seats back we will lose the senate to a republican supermajority.
It is a foregone conclusion.

We have only one battle right now. Fair elections. Unless we win it, its over.

5. We'll spend the next two years just trying to get transparent elections, a
nd that is probably unlikely also. No. The time to do anything is now! Otherwise I predict it goes on till 2020.

6. I ask those RW people, "If you pick my pocket, have you won my money?"

They don't understand the concept of a few votes here, a few votes there. It's like going into a grocery store and sampling grapes. You can go into thousands of stores and it will never be missed, but if you go in one store and steal all their grapes, believe me, it will get noticed.

Staggering quote: "Nevertheless, the present system is such a creaky patchwork, and angry suspicions so prevalent, that there is, despite the popular vote differential, a fear that the election was tainted and possibly stolen. (If 68,000 Ohio Bush supporters - only about a half dozen voters per precinct in the state - switched their votes, Kerry would be president-elect. "

And that's just in Ohio. Ask the dissenters to wrap their minds around that, if they can.

7. no way would the media sweep that under the rug
it is just too juicy, and would be a historical moment, however it plays out. as far as getting no respect from Bible thumpers and such, so what, it's not like we are respected now, and if they cry sour grapes, they are hypocrites. "It could get messy" ?? um, it's already messy, the whole government is messy if you haven't noticed, yet we're supposed to swallow whatever we're fed to keep the status quo and not make waves. gee, why does this remind me of an abusive relationship? shh, better to keep your mouth shut no matter how much it hurts, and forget about going to the police, they'll just put him in jail briefly which will do no good then he'll be out and more pissed off than ever. too much risk. well, I have met many people who've taken such risks and don't regret it, it takes great courage and determination, but can be so worth it.

8. If we don't investigate then the 2006 Mid Terms will be stolen just like
they were in 2002. Many of us worked hard on the Mid Term elections convinced that the backlash over Bush vs. Gore would sweep in Democratic candidates. Instead we lost... Georgia had gone completely to "Touch Screen" voting machines and Max Cleland and Cynthia McKinney were tossed out. All over America we lost more Democrats. We tried to put a good spin on it....but we knew something was wrong.

Now, here we are again with losing Democrats in the Senate and House, and you think that 2006 will be any different? We worked our butts off for Kerry/Edwards and candidates and signed up more new voters than seen in decades...but here we are again.

The vote has been "fixed." You will never convince those of us who have been through this that it wasn't. Sorry, I won't even think about 2006 or 2008 until we know what the problem is. And, it isn't that America is turning Right and the Red States send their folks marching to the polls singing "Onward Christian Soldiers." That's what Rove and the RW Think Tanks want us to so conveniently believe. We know their method of operation by now...so we know it's hogwash. It's the MACHINES STUPID...should be our mantra.
