Ralph Nader-requested recount to resume Monday
November 24, 2004

CONCORD, N.H. -- A recount requested by independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader in some New Hampshire towns is scheduled to resume Monday.

Nader paid $2,000 to start a recount of 11 of the state's 126 precincts that use optical vote-scanner machines after an analysis showed wide differences in voting trends between the 2000 and 2004 presidential elections.

Election officials hope to finish recounts in all 11 precincts by Tuesday. Assistant Attorney General Bud Fitch said the campaign has paid an additional $12,000 to cover those days.

Last week, ballot counters only finished two precincts, one in Manchester and the other in Litchfield. They showed little change from the official tallies.
