to demand a hand recount of the entire country.

So far in every place that has had to recount the votes by machine, they rarely can come up with the same number twice. This is unacceptable, especially for something as simple as the tabulation of votes. We are not talking rocket science, this is basic elementary school math.

Remember our elected and appointed Election officials assured us, numerous times before the election, that these electronic voting systems were totally reliable. These officials must be held accountable. They must be forced to do their jobs and enforce the law. It is unacceptable to obstruct the right of the public to count every vote. If they refuse to take action now, it is time to go to the courts. Any election official who is purposely preventing the execution of a fair and free election must be forced to resign, the sooner the better.

This Monday, once everyone wakes up from their Tryptophan stupors, it will be time to go into high gear. We need to blast the media, the FEC, all Supervisors of Elections, and anyone else you think that matters.

Everyone is looking for the smoking gun, this election was more like a nuclear explosion. It's not just one thing. It is a pattern of behavior over a long period of time. There is enough evidence in the public record to prove that the Bush Campaign did everything in their power to prevent people from voting and to manipulate the results of the election.

This is great. Let's get this out there to any of the other groups who have blogs and message boards. Is there a form letter we can use for everyone to copy and paste? We need one, simple, consistent message that should be in every letter which people can add to if they want, but so that the main point gets out to all. When exactly is this scheduled to occur? That also should go into the postings on other blogs and message boards. Let's make it our goal to get a million emails out into the media and the government offices next week.
Also, if anyone from MoveOn can help with this (or Election Protection, or People for the American way, or Common Cause), since those groups have HUGE mailing lists, this would be terrific.

I agree we should let them know we do not agree with being suppressed.

"A person who commits or attempts to commit any fraud in connection with voting, votes a fraudulent ballot, or votes more than once in an election can be convicted of a felony of the third degree and fined up to $5,000 and/or imprisoned for up to 5 years."


Voter fraud can rob many Americans of their voice in government and greatly impact the results of elections across the nation. It is the active participation of citizens, like yourself, which aid in our mission to eliminate voter fraud.

Voter fraud means intentional misrepresentation, trickery, deceit, or deception, arising out of or in connection with voter registration or voting, and the prescribed offenses set forth in Chapter 104, Florida Statutes.

Should you observe or witness a potential case of voter fraud, we ask that you complete the Complaint Form regarding voter registration or voting and return it to the Division of Elections at the address at the top of the form so it may be further investigated (see Rule 1S-2.025, Voter Fraud Complaints).

The Division conducts preliminary investigations into any irregularities or fraud involving voter registration or voting and report its findings to the state attorney for the judicial circuit in which the alleged violation occurred for prosecution, where warranted. Therefore, in order for us to be able to conduct preliminary investigations, it is imperative that you provide us with the date, time, place and any specific circumstances that are witnessed. We need credible evidence (this does not mean suspicion). We also need a means of contacting you to obtain additional information. we need a good muckraking story and the data are easy to collect.

the story: the biggest papers have blacked out the ohio and florida recount story.

how to get data: go to http://www.ccmc.org/oped.htm
for a list of the 100 biggest papers.

then go to google / news and systematically check, using "advanced news search," for each paper you care about, what they covered after the election concerning irregularities and recount activity.

for example: search for all articles containing the word 'Ohio' in the New York Times during the period Nov 3-Nov 30.

you will quickly find the papers that covered the recount story and the big papers that didn't. 'The State' in South Carolina was far better than the LA Times, the Washington Post, or the NY Times, for example. the Guardian way over in England and little papers all over the US think it's news; the NY Times evidently thinks it's not 'fit to print'.

all year long the NY Times has run stories critical of Bush. they will begin again. but they are *not* *running* *this* *one*.

here's my suggestion. get some junk food to keep your energy level up, put on some good music, set aside 6 hours or so, and collect the info. send it to me at voss@boun.edu.tr, too! we need to have the story spread out in front of us and then we need to dig into the reasons why it's happening and then we need to fix the problem. first, though, to have a clear picture of the dimensions of the problem. that's where you come in.
