WA Gov Race Alert! (BushCo threat)
Am cross posting this for SusanHu at dKos because it is an issue of importance both for the outcome of the Governor's race and, very importantly, for insights into the Pres/VP race (WA has an inexplicable 2.9 'red shift' per Scoop).

Happy Thanksgiving!

"Prove My Vote Counts, Now" -- hearing that more and more, aren't you?

2. That is utterly ridiculous!
He leads by only 42 votes, and in the manual recount, the totals shifted by over 2300 votes, to not do a hand recount is unconsionable. The same would be true if Gregoire were in his place. With an election this close, we need to be absolutely sure.

3. And, I assure you the same 'fire storm' ....
...BushCo will unleash because Gregoire is demanding the hand count would have been unleashed if Rossi had lost by anything less than 5000 votes!!

In this case, I've hypothesized that the reasons to block the hand count have much deeper reasons than trying to protect Rossi's 'win.'

I am much more motivated by using these situations as ways to comprehensively expose to ALL stakeholders in the franchise (Republicans, Dems, Independs, Greens, .....) the vast extent of 'systemic disenfranchisement' and the distrust, division and instability it engenders.

Irrespective of who happens to win, what matters is that every member of the franchise know with reasonable certainty that their vote was counted precisely as they intended.

Peace.

4. I could not agree with you more. And the consequences will be devastating
to the Democratic Party if there ISN'T a hand recount. Not just this election and definitely not just this race.

We know exactly what BushCo is afraid of.
Hand counts will provide the evidence we need.

5. I remember the hand recount in Texas
Where they kept putting the cards through the counter and the count came out 51 to 49 for the Republican, and then they hand counted the cards and 70% of them were for the Democrat.

Hand counting can be a wonderful thing.

6. I am not familiar with the hand count issue in Texas
but I am in support for a hand count in Washington, something really smells up there.

15. 42 votes separating the two candidates!!
Coming from someone who is in Wa state, I have first hand experience what the people here are feeling about the candidates. Fact is, the economy is doing worse as compared to the rest of the country so people are getting tired of the way the politicans are running this state. It doesn't surprise me the least bit that the Republican candidate is running so close with a Democratic candidate, especially in a state so popular with voting in Democratic politicans. Gary Locke is not very popular right now with the people of Wa state. Chris Gregoire does NOT have a great record with the people of Wa State. Don't get me wrong, I am not a Republican supporter and usually lean more left than right but like I said, its not suprising to me. I don't think that there's any fraud in this state as compared to Florida, which I believe there is. The people of this state are tired of the excessive sales tax and the high unemployment rate in this state and are looking for a change in leadership. I believe that Gregoire was not the best choice and that is the reason for this close race. A hand recount is going to happen and whatever the outcome of it, I believe will be genuie. Hopefully, something good will come out of it!

8. How much will that "fire storm" cost the taxpayers?
Spiteful, spiteful, spiteful. It sounds more like a sh*t storm.

It's time to tear off their masks.

9. Gregoire is one tough bitch -- she took on the tobacco companies
I'm taking back the "b" word -- somethings one has to be a bitch.

Mike Webb was covering this on his show and he replayed Gregoire's request for a hand count.

As expected the GOPig callers used the same verbiage they used against Gore in 2000 -- about recounting until she gets the count she wants.

There are many anomalies and Gregoire correctly pointed out that these must be looked at and the only way was via a hand count of the vote.

It would seem that the next step in the one party plan is to take over the Governor's mansions plus the Secretary of State in all Democratic leaning states.

However I doubt that Gregoire won't be intimidated -- and Rossi would be demanding a hand count with just 42 votes separating the two.

16. And getting every registered voter in America to focus....
....on the simple reality that they have no way to verify that their vote was counted as they intended. That is the "Constitutional crisis" we currently face -- no way to validate that each participant in the franchise even had their vote recorded correctly in addition to the extensive evidence of suppression of citizens' ability to vote.

You may find this list of voting systems and locations of tabulation of votes, from the WA State SoS, of use as the manual count proceeds.

http://www.secstate.wa.gov/elections/votingsystems.aspx

We will prevail -- just keep writing, calling, asking the 3 simple questions and encouraging everyone to demand "Prove My Vote Counts, Now."

Peace.

14. I want this and one little thing more: I want all the races recounted
I know, it's a lot to ask. But I think there was skim Kerry to pad Bush in the pres race here and I would like to see that suspicion confirmed.

Anyway, the Dems have to pay for the hand counts so what do the whiners care?
