I support Kerry and I still support Kerry
I'm only 23 and I believe in Kerry. Why is it that a youth can still believe in Kerry, but others seem to think Kerry wasn't good enough? I believed in Kerry not because of a party, but because Kerry believed in us. I still have his back do you?

This is a positive and uplifting thread that is being totally freeped in the General Discussion Group.

The youth showed that they have the faith, hope and fortitude to lead this nation forward.

Your belief in John Kerry is well placed. We have his back and we also have yours. Thank you AnIndependentTexan.

38. Spiffarino...
You beat me to this post. I was just looking for a good BCCI article to cut and paste here. I think that all DU'ers should read this article, or take a look at the full BCCI report here:
http://www.fas.org/irp/congress/1992_rpt/bcci/.

I do believe that Senator Kerry gets "it" big time - and I do believe he is involved in uncovering election tampering, rigging, fraud, etc. Whether or not this translates into an immediate result or resolution before January 20th -- guess that's what we're all wanting to know. I guess all we can do is keep up the faith that he, John Edwards and all the good people out there (including the "army" of DU'ers, BBV folks, GLIBS and everyone else) will uncover and expose the Bushiveks for what they are.

67. I first noticed Kerry during televised BCCI & Iran/C Hrgs...
and was quite impressed.

Then he disappeared from the 'radar' for a while. Then last year, during the primaries, when I hadn't voted in 20 yrs, and was not excited at all (so I thought) about any of the candidates, I turned on the TV and happened to hear Kerry's victory speech in Iowa...and suddenly I found my candidate, without a doubt. The sincerity and intelligence and passion for the issues which I'd noticed all those years ago, impressed me even more now.

While I DO believe it IS Kerry's destiny to be President (which it seems he's known his whole life as well), it also seems to be his destiny to (in the process) bring Bushco's criminal reign to an end. When he chose to run for President...(particularly after the 2000 Election theft), he obviously realized that aside from campaigning, he'd also have to deal with the election fraud that Bush would use to ATTEMPT to win with. In a way, they're the ultimate opponents... with the strength of each, being countered by the strength of the other.

Kerry employed 17,000 attorneys, and saved $45 Million dollars of campaign money for his "one-two" punch...which I'm sure began being planned the day he first announced his candidacy (if NOT 20 years before, when he first began Senate investigations against Bush, Sr. and Neil Bush.)

We need to trust him, and of course 'nudge' him and other Dem's and the media...while he we wait for him to tell us what he wants us to do next. As you recall in his video 2 weeks ago, he SPECIFICALLY said: "I'm going to need ALL your help."

2. Yes.
Yes, I am still a strong supporter of John Kerry. I think that there was fraud involved in this past election and that John Kerry should be getting ready to take over the Executive. He is a very concerned, intelligent, moderate person and much more suited for the job.

Many people are blaming Kerry right now for this, that, or the other thing. He is only a person. He did not sign on to be a revolutionary general.

We need to find a way to draw the line in the sand. But it has to come from the will of the people, the desire to have a democracy.

change,
everything you are

your number has been called
fights, battles have begun
revenge will surely come
your hard times are ahead

best,
you've got to be the best
you've got to change the world
and you use this chance to be heard
your time is now

Kerry didn't have to get me to believe in him to get my vote but he did. I was ready to say "anybody but Bush" and I gotta say that I was converted to fully supporting him.

I really think he would make a good president and we may yet get to find out if I'm right. If not I say we all give him our support as a Senator and see what he can do. He certainly can't have less impact on things than Gore has since the last election.

I was ABB until the DNC. I liked Dean and Rev. Al, but didn't know too much about Kerry until DNC week. I was one who though his campaign should be more diverse, (and was later on) but the more I saw him speak and the rallies, the more I thought he would be a cool president since Clinton. :)

13. I remember the sixties
I'm old enough to remember the Vietnam War. My new husband and I talked about what we might do it he were drafted. (He wasn't - he failed the physical). We went to Washington to march. I sent cookies to my brother who was in the 101st Airborne Division.

I have the unmost admination for someone who volunteered for duty there, but the courage to do that was nothing compared to the courage to come back and tell Americans that the war was hell, that our boys were committing atrocities, and we should get out. If he could do that, I can believe in him now.

time to get over it as there is much more at stake today. Which side o the line do you stand on, the side that fecks the little guys over or the side of honesty? And it was the little guy who got fecked over in Viet Nam.

My dad was in Nam twice and said Kerry has a right to his opinion, he was over there. He was trying to put a stop to a lie of a war. Did you forget we were sucking oil offshore over there too?

47. I haven't forgotten one thing from Viet Nam
When my husband went over there we had a little 2 month old son. He carried a picture of "daddy" around with him when he learned to walk. My husband came home after a year over there and our son didn't know who he was. They are still not close because they never did bond. I'm fully aware of the tragedy of war. No one has to tell me how hard things were. We had no car, walked everywhere, carrying baby and groceries. No job when he came home. He got spat on at the airport. Yes I remember Nam.

50. Well How Bout Ya Ask Your Husband
What he was fighting for when he was in the service. Was he fighting for America? What America was he fighting for? Cause if he is fighting for THIS America, then he should be ashamed at what has happened to our Beloved Country, and not sleep a day until this Dictatorship of Disaster is put in its place. He also should not sleep a single day without thinking that the SwiftBoatVetMorons disgraced all Vietnam Vets by trying to Destroy a War Hero for self-serving means, and via mass lying and Deceit.

I hope he believes all that, and if he does then he has my respect.

51. and if he doesn't
then you don't respect him? Well, he was drafted in the Marines and he sure didn't want to go. He went to Paris Island for training and it did change him. I didn't recognize him when I saw him. He didn't see any atrocities over there. I've had this conversation with him many times. He said the only atrocities were on the other side. His stories are horrible. He was an electrician over there. I know the problems the war caused us when he returned. Was it the right war? At the time, we didn't think so. But he still went. We thought about going to Canada, but in the end, he went and he is a very proud vet and a UAW member. He still voted for Bush.

My uncle went to Vietnam, but he was on a boat the whole time. He's solidly in the Bush camp. Didn't see any real action except what he could see from his ship. Others who did see action still vote Republican. I know some who are solid Dems. It doesn't seem to make much difference if you went and what you saw. Politics means many things to many people.

99. The only people who can talk to a Vietnam veteran for Bush
is a Vietnam veteran for Kerry.

I saw what you said in another post about your husband getting spat on. Some have tried to say that this was a myth, or perhaps that it wasn't as widespread as people have been led to believe. I think that some of the Vietnam veterans make the mistake of assuming their experience was everyone's experience. If they didn't see attrocities, there weren't any. If they didn't get spat on, no one did.

We all need to respect each others experiences. I read on one site an account from a South Vietnamese, where that person said just this. His experience matched Kerry's, only on the South Vietnam side. But he was open to the idea that not everyone had such an experience. He only asked that his version not be denied.

I'm sorry for how your husband was treated as he came home. It is my hope and wish that no matter how we end up feeling about this war, that we will have learned from past mistakes, and will support the troop when they come home. Hate the war -- don't hate the soldiers who fought it. If more people would read Kerry's testimony all the way through, they'd realize that's what he was trying to say.

But I fear that one of the things that happened to Vietnam vets upon returning, that they didn't get proper care, is already happening. I think Kerry as president would put a stop to that. He would also put a stop to VA budget cuts and make sure the resources were there for veterans. I wish more soldiers knew what a friend he is to the veteran, through Vietnam Veterans of America and elsewhere. I think some do know, hence "Veterans for Kerry."

54. huh?
Kerry chose to fight this fight. If I represented Democrats nationally, I'd do the right thing. Kerry took on an obligation but didn't meet the requirements.

He gave up, I walked miles, persuaded, begged, cooked, assimilated, phoned and organized. In exchange for my efforts there was an expectation that Kerry would take the risk by questioning abuse of the system, that isn't an unrealistic expectation. This isn't about his chances for '08, it is about his courage in finishing this job, even if it is politically uncomfortable.

It may not have been fraud, but there was real abuse that is well documented; lines, changed polling places, you know the list.. They may not have needed to cook the books, with the effective voter suppression effort it was in the bag.

Kerry could have called them on this, now we're adrift for a very long time.

Why did he quit so quickly? Why is he letting everyone else do the marching and emailing and calling and bumper stickers? Can you answer that? If he wanted it all his life, he sure gave up fast. When the going got tough, he kept going. He'll never get my vote and since I don't live in Mass, I will not get a chance to vote for him again.

First, some truth from John Kerry:

"This is the most lying, crooked bunch..."

AND NOW...

Follow the Money
How John Kerry busted the terrorists' favorite bank.

By David Sirota and Jonathan Baskin
-----------------------------------------
Two decades ago, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI) was a highly respected financial titan. In 1987, when its subsidiary helped finance a deal involving Texas oilman George W. Bush, the bank appeared to be a reputable institution, with attractive branch offices, a traveler's check business, and a solid reputation for financing international trade. It had high-powered allies in Washington and boasted relationships with respected figures around the world.

All that changed in early 1988, when John Kerry, then a young senator from Massachusetts, decided to probe the finances of Latin American drug cartels. Over the next three years, Kerry fought against intense opposition from vested interests at home and abroad, from senior members of his own party; and from the Reagan and Bush administrations, none of whom were eager to see him succeed.

...for the rest of the article. Fascinating stuff. He stuck it to BCCI and helped bring it down. A weak person couldn't have done it.

Like I said earlier, if he's not doing anything it's because he either knows it's over or he's biding his time. I trust that he'll do what's right.

look what they did to Gore... to Clinton... Kerry's been fighting the right since Nixon. He's not giving up this easy. (Also, KMG... the Viet Nam war was so ugly for everyone. You're husband-who went-has a right to feel and think whatever he wants. My stepdad came back a mess, and absolute mess...too crazy to comment on.)

He totally exudes integrity. At the end of the day that is all each of us have, our integrity.

Yes, I have his back.

Those that don't think he was good enough didn't think so because of his flaws, but because of their own. Because THEY weren't good enough.

33. Please, may we have JUST ONE support Kerry thread without naysayers?
I get uplifted hearing the sentiments of those who still support Kerry, those who are willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, knowing the challenges that Kerry has faced in his life, has fought, and has won. People seem to overlook the effin' fact that Kerry won this election. Believe me, he won. But when a thief comes in the night to steal what's rightfully yours, you don't go running out naked into the darkness and screaming for him to return what belongs to you, unless you want to look like a fool in the eyes of the world. Instead you set a well-laid trap and hope to heaven it works.

Please, for the love of God, may we have just one thread on DU where we can express our support for this man without it being interrupted by those who are angry and, dare I say it, bitter?

I am as cynical and skeptical as a person can be, and I still support Kerry. It took me a long time to come around to supporting him, but I made a good faith effort to understand the man and his history. Once I made that commitment to John Kerry, no matter what the circumstances appear to be, that commitment does not waver, does not falter, will not fail.

You're damn right I still have his back, AIT.

A voice of reason, commitment, loyalty and strength.

It is not abandoning the fight to retreat, regroup and out flank the enemy. John Kerry is a rare find in a politician. He is a man of conviction, integrity, compassion and loyalty. Shrub talks the talk, but John Kerry walks the walk. You can trust him to "say what he means and do what he says"

I pledge my support to him and to the ideals that he based his career upon.

i love kerry. i really loved gore. these men, like clinton -- are noblemen and philosophers. kerry, edwards (and the rest) understand our critical place in history and are HONEST public servants. kerry especially has a sense of noble duty with regard to military and foreign affairs. it is going to take men of valor such these to dig us out of the smelly rotten hole bush has dug for us. that's why we have to fight for these recounts and have hope in ourselves if we don't suceed.

36. I believe in John Kerry.
It isn't logical that he would not be fighting this. He isn't a coward and there is no indication that he could have been bought. How could they? They couldn't afford him. The only thing he wants that he doesn't have is the presidency. And things are awfully quiet. And those that speak, softly adhere to the DNC line. Why is that? And Kerry seems to be getting a bit mouthy in the senate. And he voted out of lockstep with the DLCer's who voted along with Zell for the omnibus bill. Hmmmm. Another thing, though he conceded, he hasn't said he is NOT investigating the vote. The WH Came out and asked the Kerry team to acknowledge the election was over yesterday. Why did they have to do that? Why did the David Wade comment bother them enough to react? Just wondering?

45. There is a thread somewhere here. David Wade was quoted
in a Westchester NY paper as talking about the Kerry Campaign becoming more active in the recount. He said something about the 17,000 lawyers. I can't exactly quote it but it is here on DU somewhere. The WH Spokesman basically came out and said it was time for the Campaign to stop"clinging to the thread of hope in a recount" (not exact) and acknowledge that the election was over. I will post it and send it to you if I can find it. Anyone else read that post?

CLUTCHES TO HOPES OF RECOUNT VICTORY"

Kerry clutches to hopes of recount victory
White House calls on nation to 'come together'

Some supporters of Massachusetts Senator John Kerry and running mate John Edwards cling to the hope that an Ohio recount can swing the election

by Adam Stone
A White House spokeswoman told North County News last Friday that citizens should embrace the Election Day results and dismiss recount efforts in Ohio that could hand Democratic Senator John Kerry of Massachusetts the presidency.

"The election has ended, and now is the time for the country to come together to address the challenges our nation faces," the spokeswoman, Suzy DeFrancis, remarked.

Bush won Ohio by a vote of 2,796,147 to John Kerry's 2,659,664, according to the official tally.

In a series of e-mail interviews with North County News two weeks ago, Kerry spokesman David Wade spoke about recount efforts led by a team of 17,000 lawyers that could trigger the removal of President George W. Bush from office.

Since then, under mounting pressure from alternative media outlets as well as progressive voices outside the Democratic Party, Kerry issued a statement to his supporters that left open the possibility that he could obtain--through a recount--the requisite electoral votes to seize the White House.

"Regardless of the outcome of this election, once all the votes are counted--and they will be counted--we will continue to challenge this administration," Kerry said through a web-exclusive statement and video Friday, which, curiously, was not distributed to the press.

The usage of the word 'regardless' in the carefully parsed statement was the first indication Kerry has offered that, in his mind, the official election results might be inaccurate enough to tilt the election in his favor.

Wade was e-mailed the remarks from the White House spokeswoman.

"Any president of the United States should make it a priority to count every vote in our country because every citizen's full faith in the democratic process is critical," Wade responded yesterday (Tuesday). "That's why John Kerry and John Edwards built a voter protection team of lawyers around the country, lawyers who are today monitoring recounts and the counting of provisional ballots including Ohio and New Mexico. Every vote will be counted, and we Democrats aren't afraid to fight to protect voters' rights."

A Kerry victory in Ohio would give the senator enough electoral votes to seize the White House.

In another signal the Kerry/Edwards team is increasing its involvement in the recount effort, a note was posted on the campaign website yesterday that called on supporters to contribute to the Kerry-Edwards 2004 General Election Legal and Accounting Compliance Fund.

"The Federal Election Commission has just granted our request to raise funds now to cover recount expenses," the website states. "Your contribution to Kerry-Edwards 2004 GELAC will provide the resources to make sure we are prepared to win the post election day battles."

This country is divided and it is the fault of Bush, the divider. He's not a president or leader, he's only a ruler. As for me, Senator John Kerry is my leader.

60. The whole DNC ain't worth a hoot
Kerry is no better nor worse than the rest of DNC paracites who have aligned themselves with the ruling elite rather than the working people. I believe Kerry was told to stand down and he did and, right or wrong, he's going to take the fall because there has been enormous vote fraud and it will come out sooner or later. Then he's going to look like a bum although the fact of the matter is not one Democratic senator of the U.S. has the spine to stand up for a transparent election. Fuck 'em all!

65. Most of you seem to forget.....
Kerry conceding to * means nothing yet. The repo's would like nothing more than to portray him as a whining, crying sore loser. I believe it is a good thing he has not given them that option. I cannot believe that a man who has spent a good part of his life fighting unpopular battles, would shirk one as important as this one. Thus, I choose to believe that he is involved albeit "under the radar". If the democrats have learned one thing, it could be how talented the repugs are at spin. I truly believe John Kerry is a man of great integrity, who fights for what he believes in, and I believe when he is armed with indisputable facts and evidence, his voice will be heard. The silence is way too deafening - from almost everyone, for me to believe anything else.

79. Kerry Is The Man With The Plan!!!
I have supported him from day one and will continue to proudly support him all the way! Kerry will be a great president. I will always have his back just as I know he has mine regardless of what all the naysayers and freepers have to say. I also had many family members that were in vietnam and they all agree with Kerry and say Kerry done the right thing. They also say he had alot to do with putting a end to that war. So as far as vietnam goes the fact of the matter is there are plenty that support Kerry and what he did. And what Kerry testified to has been proven true all they have to do is check the records. If the truth hurts these a$$holes like the swifty liars and others so be it. It like all those in my family that were there have said they can get the hell over it and unfortunately history is repeating itself right now in Iraq! And to think some dumba$$ chickenhawk that never went and fault a day in his life is going to do what's right and get us the hell out of there is ridulous. Like so many vietnam vets I have talk to including those in my family I would trust a man that had the gonands to serve and when he seen what they were there for and it was wrong come home and take on the goverment and help put a stop to it I would sure as hell trust him to take care of the mess we are in now! I will take a smart, intelligent, fighter, that has been there and done it, and has a heart as a my leader anyday over a dumba$$, lazy a$$, chikenhawk that cant chew bubble gum and walk at the same time. So I say f**k those namies that voted for chimp. When they lose some more benefits I will personally LMAO at them and tell them they get what they deserve. First off most of them talk about dishonor of your fellow soldiers what the hell do they call what they do when they lie and slander a fellow soldier that came back after seeing what the sorry as leaders of this country was doing and stuck his neck out on the line to help put a stop to a unjust war that may have very well saved some of their sorry a$$es! Hell at least someone had the gonands to stand up and fight for what was right and bring about peace again! So who is hell dishonored and slandered who? Kerry didn't dishonor and slander anyone. It is the dumba$$ that support the Swifty Liars. And yes they are dumba$$e$.

87. Kerry is good enough, and ...
Kerry is good enough, Clinton was good enough, Edwards and Dean and Kuchinich and Clark (if Clinton Recommended him) and Gore were all not just good enough but Head and Shoulders above the man now occupying the White House. (Who is a puppet of people brighter than he is.) And lots of us have Kerry's back--we are just horribly frustrated that there's isn't enough we can do at this horribly tangled moment in American history. But if we keep our heads, and send whatever money we can spare to the people doing the work on the ground right now, we will be rewarded. One thing we can do as we wait is to start drafting letters to our congresspeople describing the National Voting Act we want in place, that will guarantee secure voting across the country on National Voting Day, which is one of the first things we want after we have effected Regime Change in America! (The next thing we want is the end of the electoral college.) And for the record, I'm 38 years older than you are. You have a lot more allies than you may think at this moment.:hi:

I also posted this in the "...Teresa Heinz Kerry..." thread.

I used used the Kerry election problem report form to inspire John Kerry to take action and requested it be forwarded to Teresa Heinz Kerry.

Sample letter: I am experiencing an election problem with John Kerry not standing up for voter rights. The election is not over and we the people are working our butts off to expose and combat voter disenfranchisement, election fraud, and most importantly the lack of news coverage in national and local media. This nation can mobilized thousands of volunteers and contributors if only John Kerry will stand up strong in support of voter rights. - voter

He really does come across as a real guy to me. I truly believe that if we gave him the Presidency, the world be better off 4 years from now. I love him and have the utmost respect for him and I hope that someday I will have the opportunity to meet and have a talk with him. If New Jersey had a meaningful primary election, I still would have voted for Kerry (even though I also like Dean, Kucinich, and Clark). George W. Bush will NEVER be my president.

107. I HAVE SUPPORTED KERRY FROM DAY ONE AND ........
.....Will continue to do so! I know Kerry is a fighter, true patriot that loves his country and the people in it, and I have also said all along that he won this election and it was a matter of proving it. It's a daily fight with all the freepers and naysayers but who care's Kerry is worth fighting for. And I will never forget all the energy and life this man brought out of everyone at all the rallies. Trust me there are plenty of Kerry supporters out there just like those that are here at DU. This man isn't going anywhere. Even if something happen this wasn't overturned (which I still feel it will because this is not over yet) we have not seen the last of John F. Kerry. He will be Bush's and all his croanies worst nightmares! As we all said at al those rallies.........

HEY HEY HO HO BUSH'S LYING A$$ HAS GOT TO GO!

I really like that. Can you tell? I too have supported Kerry all along. He is a fighter and a smart one at that. He is exactly what we need now. John Edwards too. John Kerry reported for duty before we even started paying attention. He is still working for us. It isn't over.
