The WP gives prominence to an odd correction for Exit Poll article
This is weird. What's the dif? The "new" title is better but considering the MYRIAD errors in the WP, this seems strange-

Correction to This Article
One of the headlines on Richard Morin's Nov. 21 Outlook article on exit polling might have left a misimpression. It should have read, "Exit Polls Can't Always Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To," rather than, "Exit Polls Can't Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To."

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A64906-2004Nov20.html

It's linked from the front page "politics" section rather than the more obscure "correction" page.

1. They're saying sometimes they CAN predict winners
Covering their lying asses for the difference between Ukraine election and U.S. election. Also covering their lying asses for future polls they conduct, and anyone else in the media.

I wonder which lying liar requested the correction?

:argh:

That makes sense. And yes, I too wonder who brought it to their attn.

Edit- It just struck me! How BRAZEN! There's no longer any pretense. The TOP front page article is in tomorrow's WP is "'04 Voting: Realignment -- Or a Tilt?" The first few paragraghs promise decades of repub glory. I quit reading.

3. That's right
and the sad thing is most people will just follow right along...of course the Ukrainian exit polls were right, but the exit polls in the US? oh, that's different...

2. It's to conform the Ukraine situation with the American situation
in other words, the polls were right in Ukraine and wrong in the swing states.

4. Yep. The exit polls are wrong or right depending on how it suits Bush.

6. my email
to the washington post letters@washpost.com

I am writing regarding the following correction:

Correction to This Article
One of the headlines on Richard Morin's Nov. 21 Outlook article on exit polling might have left a misimpression. It should have read, "Exit Polls Can't Always Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To," rather than, "Exit Polls Can't Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To."

I just want to congratulate you on your incisive journalism. When the exit polls for our election do not make sense, you say "Exit Polls Can't Predict Winners" but of course when the administration claims the Ukrainian exit polls did indicate a winner, you do not call them on their inconsistency, you simply rewrite your opinion.

How convenient. Have you ever thought of actually attempting to report news? Don't strain yourselves trying, it requires a conscience.

:hurts:

Edit: Well, I just had to write them, too, but I must admit my letter is a bit more *cough* sarcastic than yours. In fact, it's downright juvenile, as follows:

Dear WaPo:

Regarding your correction: One of the headlines on Richard Morin's Nov. 21 Outlook article on exit polling might have left a misimpression. It should have read, "Exit Polls Can't Always Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To," rather than, "Exit Polls Can't Predict Winners, So Don't Expect Them To."

I have to ask, is this the George W. Bush version of "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't"?

Regards,
(Straight Shooter)
