Be very careful reporting---The Free Press article is WRONG!!!

This article in the Free Press http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/19/2004/944

says that Kerry received fewer votes than the democratic candidate for Supreme Court Justice. This is plain WRONG. I checked the numbers at http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos//results/ None of the numbers in the article make any sense.

Check EVERYTHING before you report it or pass it on. They want to discredit us, and they will do so with tantalizing memos and numbers. Just like the did with Dan Rather's memo.

Definetly does not include any provisional ballots either.

13. Thank you.
I agree. It looks right to me. The essay is just way too detailed (listing exactly 15 counties where Connally got more votes than Kerry) to be pure conjecture. Looks like a good story. And it's big!.

Someone with a lot of credibility here should start a new thread with this essay. Then we should keep the new one kicked.

21. PM means personal message - not an attack
chill out. no one is attacking you, they are just presenting evidence that doesn't agree with your analysis. i don't think it's personal.

a personal message would be a way to bring this up with you one-on-one rather than publicly.

11. Dear Modmom, original post
I think it is true that Kerry votes > Connaly votes, but you may have misplaced your commas 4,500 rather than 45,000? Alternatively we are missing something that is not evident from the election site. Could you please let us know?

17. Web site mistake?
The site you cite (hee hee) above has a different address than the one I'm using:

http://www.sos.state.oh.us/sos/results/11-02-04.htm

I know mine is the official SoS site... could yours be a decoy site or something? Something completely different?

I'm not sure about the numbers. Take one from one site and compare it to the other.

This is really odd.

PS: I know Bob Fitrakis and while he might get something wrong he is a very, very left-leaning person, as is Wasserman. I'm not saying they couldn't have gotten their figures wrong, though... just that their intentions were honorable.

I'm going to PM this message to you, too.

The article was written by Steven Rosenfeld, not Fitrakis. Fitrakis is the editor.

25. oops, sorry, getting my Free Press stories mixed up
I can barely keep my eyes open anymore. I've been glued to my computer, up until 3 AM every night, it seems like since the election. I've read so many things... they're all starting to smear together in my head.

I don't know the reporter...

Also, I must say, about the Free Press: it's not like it's huge circulation or anything. In paper format, it's published rather sporadically. My brother-in-law, an aspiring cartoonist, has a strip in it. It has been, it seems to me, pretty much ignored by MSM and even most alternative media, although Fitrakis is great and a terrific activist who's always running for some office or another.

It's nice to see it get a moment in the sun.
