Are they still counting votes in Ohio?
Is there any chance these provisional ballots will be counted tonight?

Is it worth staying up all goddam night for this? Or should I get some sleep - and see where it stands in the morn?

2. Last I heard, there were still people waiting in line
to cast votes in OH. Some fine urban districts have/had lines 9 hours long. Rule is, If they showed up by closing, they get to vote. They could be at it for an hour still.

WTF kind of banana republic are they running in Ohio when it takes 9 hours to vote. I thought that kind of crap only happened in Florida.

6. still counting in Cincinnati
3:16am EST
They are only about 75% counted in the city of Cincinnati.

There was a write-in vs write-in campaign for prosecutor, since the repub-lickin prosecutor who was going to run unopposed got exposed for thinking with his little head for the last 3-4 years and had to drop out. So the votes are all being counted by hand.

10. No. They won't even open them for ten days
They need the time to decide which groups are valid and will be counted and which are not. It will be at least 11 days before they can declare a winner. And the provisional ballots aren't the only ones that are up-in-the-air. People from the Cleveland area, who tend to go Democratic, were still voting after midnight. Those haven't been counted yet. Also, they haven't counted their absentee ballots and, if it's that close, they will probably be forced to do a recount of their punch card ballots. Reflections of Florida 2000. It's going to be long and very messy and complicated. Get some sleep. You'll need it, to comprehend all this.:boring:

Election snafu causing woes in Knox County
Larry Gibbs
News Journal correspondent

MOUNT VERNON -- Long lines of prospective voters were still waiting to cast ballots when polls were scheduled to close at 7:30 p.m., but all will be allowed to vote.

Tickets were issued to hundreds of people who were in line at 7:30 at the Gambier Community Library, according to William Eagan, the Knox County Democratic Party Chairman and a member of the county's elections board.

The polls remained open for those holding tickets. As of 8:15 p.m., Eagan estimated there were still a couple of hundred people waiting to vote. Eagan called it the largest voter turnout he has seen and attributed to the Kerry campaign effort to register Kenyon College students.

He said at its peak, the line in Gambier was three or four hours long. Eagan said students took it all in stride, doing homework under umbrellas while waiting.

The board of elections sent fresh poll workers to Gambier to assist and also went to a local grocery store to buy provisions for those waiting in line.

The precinct will be the last of Knox County's 56 precincts to be counted.
