That's it. I'm making daily trips now to distribute flyers, etc...
I guess my lunch breaks will consist of walking around parking lots, malls, etc.

I'm new here. I'm new to political activism. This is only the second presidential election I've voted in. And I'm sure I'll get flamed by most everyone I know for "wasting" my time. But, I can't stand around with my face in a computer all night and expect it to make a difference. Yes, I've looked at all kinds of numbers, and I'm still going to follow through with my current project, comparing Broward 2000 to Broward 2004 by precinct (which is extremely difficult, as precincts have changed. But possible. Wonder who planned that change?). But this thing has to be taken to the streets, to the people who don't sit in front of a computer. To the people who don't have a computer. To the people who watch the news on CNN & NBC & ABC for 30 seconds a night to see what's new in Iraq.

The Wayne Madsen discussion has me a little pumped, I admit. Even though I'm not completely convinced that he's as confident as we all hope that something will come out of this, some hope is better than no hope. And with the Jesse Jackson thing today, something is brewing. We all can feel it. It really is up to the little people, me & you, the people who have lives outside of politics to stand up, go outside, and get this thing in front of as many people as possible.

Organize. Yes. I have no idea how. That's so frustrating. I don't have much contact with anyone other than my wife, I work from home, we just moved to a new state. I don't know anybody. DU has been my social life for the last 3 weeks. Its time for me (and anyone else who is like me) to elevate this from a hobby discussion to a bitter fight. My unborn children will NOT grow up in the world that the Bush's & Rove's are creating. I can't and won't let that happen. I reread the Declaration of Independence tonight. Wow. Everyone should do that. Tonight. Right now.

I need tips on good flyers.
I need tips on getting involved / organized.
I need tips on how be a true American patriot. I'm out of practice.

- BJ

1. You go!!
Welcome to DU and thank you for doing this! Here's a DUer's site where you can burn a CD-ROM with vote fraud links. Make a few copies and put 'em under the windshield wipers of cars with JK/JE stickers.

7. Thanks for that link
I have been looking for something like that to distribute. No one knows any of this is going on...not even the Dems that were really behind Kerry.

Does anyone have hand flyers that can be downloaded and printed off?

10. I'm in FL. I've checked, and have actually been contacted...
by someone who is organizing. I'll definitely participate. But something doesn't feel right about waiting. Something has to be now. Like this week.

8. Heh, maybe a flyer based off an earlier post I made:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=2761119

Let's fix congress up - give them Diebold machines to cast votes on bills

See how many dem congress people might get on the bandwagon in the fight.

Tell them there is no paper trail, they just have to trust that man behind the curtain that the vote they cast was recorded as they cast it.

I wonder if they think it would be a good idea, or would they worry about it?

Hmmmmmm.
*** Perhaps we could make flyers urging congress to use the same voting methods we have had thrust on us. That might kick off a light bulb in their heads and the heads of people who read it "that's a terrible idea" someone might say when reading it - and then they go "oooohhhhhhh..."

12. Rules of the road for civil disobedience
1.- If confronted by authorities, do not create a confrontation... if it bleeds it leads... and they will use it

2.- REMAIN CIVIL at all times

3.- REMAIN PLEASANT at all times

4.- Carry a camera... can be useful, disposable preferably

5.- When distributing fliers remember folks mostly will put them away

Places to distribute them.

1.- Laundromats.... Perfect, captive audience

2.- Abandon them "slightly read" in public transportation, humans are wonderful at being curious

Most importantly be aware of your surroundings at all times... we are about to repeat history (this was done all over the 1960s) and in the 1960s many people were harrased et al by authorities

Not trying to scare you but educate you...

After this, HELL YES, GO FOR IT!

Flyers for Saturday's rally in Columbus, OH

I'm no veteran of this sort of thing, but the optimistic elements of my brain allow me to hope that a good use of time would be to concentrate flyering in areas reequented by lawmakers and media-makers: They find this stuff in their coffeeshop, they don't know whether it's in a million more places, and they don't want to be behind the curve.

Yes, the Declaration of Independence is a good re-read in times like this. Those "Power of Pride" people who resent questioning the govt got not idea how much the founders distrusted the power of the State.

BTW, you don't often see "Power of Sloth," "Power of Avarice," etc. The fundies also ought to read the documents their faith is supposed to founded upon. Pardon the rambling. Hope the links help.

20. Check the 51 Capitals March site: Huge protest 12/12!!!!!
There's another thread here announcing "They Stole My Vote" marches in every state capital on 12/12--the day before electoral college electors meet in the state capitals to vote. There's a lovely graphic of a "Voter's Declaration of Independence" and info on how to sign up for the marches.

I think the site was http://www.51capitalsmarch.com.
