he also knows how to ask some tough questions.
He didn't let Katherine Blackwell weasel out of much.
And, I have no problem with Blackwell being on - that's the REAL definition of "fair and balanced" news. The reporter asks the questions - tough questions of all - and lets the respondent answer instead of yelling over them a la Hannity or telling them to "shut up," a la O'Lielly.

But, he did look awfully sad when he was reporting on Dick Ebersol. See, reporters can really be human and have concern for friends/fellow humans and still act in a professional manner throughout the rest of their show/job/duty.

it is quite obvious you have never read or studied the most wonderful document that so many have laid their lives down for , or lost limbs for or were forever changed for . Let me be the first to introduce you to it, and please do read it, as it lays out the proceedures for electing a president of "my" country in it!! If you have a problem with those proceedures, may i suggest a very warm place you may feel more comfortable with??..cuba...take your swim suit..its really hot there now...orrrrr...start reading and aquaint your self with the rules of my land , the United States of America!!!


THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(See Note 1)

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Article. I.
Section 1.
All legislative Powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.

Section. 2.
Clause 1: The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.

Clause 2: No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

Clause 3: Representatives and direct Taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers, which shall be determined by adding to the whole Number of free Persons, including those bound to Service for a Term of Years, and excluding Indians not taxed, three fifths of all other Persons. (See Note 2) The actual Enumeration shall be made within three Years after the first Meeting of the Congress of the United States, and within every subsequent Term of ten Years, in such Manner as they shall by Law direct. The Number of Representatives shall not exceed one for every thirty Thousand, but each State shall have at Least one Representative; and until such enumeration shall be made, the State of New Hampshire shall be entitled to chuse three, Massachusetts eight, Rhode-Island and Providence Plantations one, Connecticut five, New-York six, New Jersey four, Pennsylvania eight, Delaware one, Maryland six, Virginia ten, North Carolina five, South Carolina five, and Georgia three.

Clause 4: When vacancies happen in the Representation from any State, the Executive Authority thereof shall issue Writs of Election to fill such Vacancies.

Clause 5: The House of Representatives shall chuse their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

Section. 3.
Clause 1: The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, chosen by the Legislature thereof, (See Note 3) for six Years; and each Senator shall have one Vote.

Clause 2: Immediately after they shall be assembled in Consequence of the first Election, they shall be divided as equally as may be into three Classes. The Seats of the Senators of the first Class shall be vacated at the Expiration of the second Year, of the second Class at the Expiration of the fourth Year, and of the third Class at the Expiration of the sixth Year, so that one third may be chosen every second Year; and if Vacancies happen by Resignation, or otherwise, during the Recess of the Legislature of any State, the Executive thereof may make temporary Appointments until the next Meeting of the Legislature, which shall then fill such Vacancies. (See Note 4)

Clause 3: No Person shall be a Senator who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty Years, and been nine Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State for which he shall be chosen.

Clause 4: The Vice President of the United States shall be President of the Senate, but shall have no Vote, unless they be equally divided.

Clause 5: The Senate shall chuse their other Officers, and also a President pro tempore, in the Absence of the Vice President, or when he shall exercise the Office of President of the United States.

Clause 6: The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Clause 7: Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Section. 4.
Clause 1: The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.

Clause 2: The Congress shall assemble at least once in every Year, and such Meeting shall be on the first Monday in December, (See Note 5) unless they shall by Law appoint a different Day.

Oh, my, the things we can be led to believe when we don't want to see what lies dead at our feet. I prefer to poke at democracy with a sharp stick, see if it will make an effort to stand up for itself.

I suppose apartheid doesn't count as fraud, dirty tricks don't count as fraud. :eyes:

if the result would change? It is a question of confidence in the system. I have none. I had none in 2000, but I thought it would have been fixed by now. In 2000, I truly thought we were dealing with ignorance, not intent. Now I am not at all sure.

144. Actually that total vote number is questionable now too. How much fraud R
we dealing with? Maybe enough to not only shift the all important Ohio to Bush, but the popular vote too. We don't know and more than a few of us are wondering about fraud nationwide now. Also in the U.S. since we live by the constitution we don't go off the popular vote, we go with the electoral college which means that enough fraud to flip Ohio is enough to flip the national election. So its quite possible we may elect President Kerry. We don't know yet and won't know at least until Jan. 6th. That is if we stick to the constitution and don't go all the way towards Banana Republicizing the U.S.

They are friends, and he was really upset. In the middle of the report he must have received news that they found the body of Ebersol's second son. Also, there's a story on OLB's henchmen Zawahiri.

Word has it that Keith Olbermann was his protegé; that is, Ebersol was his mentor. So, they were probably pretty close, and word just came out that his son was likely killed. (Ebersol's 14yr old son, that is. Sad.)

70. Go read Keith's blog entry today on Ebersol--he used most of it
tonight to pay tribute to Dick Ebersol on-air. Also, as they came on the air the late breaking news was that they had indeed found the body of Dick Ebersol's 14-year old son in the wreckage--that had to be tough to deliver that news live on the air when someone was your friend.

24. Should Kerry/Edwards really have the luxury to
just decide they don't want to entangle themselves in this mess? I am not at all into Kerry-bashing, but a very large number of voters worked to get him into the WH. Just because the process in messy can he just choose to abandon the political process? It is not about him, it is the American voters right that is in question. People should be putrting a lot of pressure on him - there should be a peaceful sit-in in front of his house or DNC office.

KO's heart just wasn't in it tonight when he needed to hammer Blackwell a little harder. I mean he had just heard on air it seemed that his friend and colleague's son was dead, his voice was shaky when he relayed that news just a bit earlier. So it's understandable that he didn't go after Blackwell the same way he might have done had this tragedy not happened. KO's style seems to be more sarcastic than pure aggression though and he did try to pin some stuff on Blackwell. Sleazy people like Blackwell don't come across well no matter how much they smile into the camera. He revealed more about himself than the questions asked of him indicated, at least I thought so. It's obvious he's ticked at JJ, and he did admit, however begrudgingly that the recount will go forward. I bet he'll wish he hadn't said that. All in all, I thought just getting the F word said on national TV by a national figure, and JJ is a national figure, was important. Great news about recounts possible in NM and Nevada.

We should write to KO and thank him again, as I do every night. It was particularly difficult from a human perspective to go on with tonight's show. Let's thank him.

I don't care about that though, it was what was expected. What I dooooo care about though, is HOLY SHIT are we getting to this guy! I was laughin my ass off so much! He was so transparent. 153. I wish he'd asked Blackwell about the provisional ballot ruling that came
through against the people of Ohio at the 11th hour. Remember provisional ballots were supposed to be counted afterwards, no matter which precinct they had been filled out in, if election officials were able to find that a voter had registered somewhere in the state. I think Ohio's ruling on provisional ballots (Blackwell's nefarious work) was different than in all other states in that it required provisional ballots to be thrown out and discounted, even if the voter's registration was found, if the voter had voted in a precinct that did not match the one they resided in. I thought that was the whole purpose of HAVA adding provisional ballots, to accomodate those that had valid registrations but were for some reason attempting to vote in the wrong precinct. If they were found later, when the provisionals were being counted, not to have been legally registered, then the PV could be tossed. Blackwell was allowed to toss the provisional ballots cast in the wrong precincts even if a valid registration in the state was found for the voter. This was achieved with a last minute sleazoid ruling. If this is a different way of handling PV than the rest of the states, doesn't that make it illegal, since HAVA is a federal law? Is it just me, or is this a glaring irregularity in Ohio?

Wish Keith would have stuck up a little for Cobb/Bad. Maybe said something like "don't you think they are to be commended for pushing for the verification of U.S. voting apparatus?"

I'm sure that he was not on form. He was upset and I think we all need to chill a bit on KO.

1) Missed asking him how a recount could take place in 7 days, and if it matters to him that he'll probably miss the safe harbor.
2) Missed asking him about Warren County, Ohio
3) Missed asking him about the counties that were suing to prevent the recount.
4) Missed asking him about the 80lb. paper incident.
