Has any statistician on DU looked at Delaware County Ohio?
Seems Delaware may have something to hide like Warren. Suspiciously high Bush support that is. AND Delawre is attempting to block the recount.

Delaware County has suspicous stats according to Democratic Underground member shaggy briard

he said:

"Warren County is one of only two counties with population over 150,000 that showed more than 70% support for Bush -- turnout It is also the one of two counties in the state with more than 100,000 adults that showed turnout of more than 70% -- if you believe the turnout.
Bush also outperformed his 2000 totals by 37% while Kerry outpolled Gore by 32% -- in fact, this was the largest proportionate increase in Bush votes of any county except Delaware (which was growing much faster in total population)
These numbers are all suspicious"

his spread sheet on Warren County Ohio:

1. mikeylove posted this last night on theraw data.....
http://www.socialavenger.com/Ohio-Margin-Diff-ByCounty.xls

My comments regarding the data......

Based on your spreadsheet, Bush + Kerry = 5,455,811.
Connally + Moyer = 4,327,270

I sorted the data by difference (JK - W) and added columns to show the difference in terms of % for both race sets.

For the top 15 in Kerry's favor, 29% of the people didn't bother to vote for the Supreme Court justice.

For the top 15 in Bush's favor, 25% of the people didn't vote for the SC candidates.

Erie was interesting. They had the lowest % difference between total votes cast for both candidate sets....14%. Kerry had a 12% lead over Bush...but Moyer had a 100% lead over Connelly. Apparently Republicans preferred Kerry, there.

But in Kerry's largest district, Cuyoga...32% didn't vote for SC court race? And in Kerry's 2nd largest precinct, Franklin, 36% didn't vote for SC. Either the Democrats don't care about their SC pick or Bush got lot's more Cyber votes..........

Connaly did not get more votes than Kerry in this county, unlike some other suspicous repub counties where she outpolled Kerry even though she was unknown, underfunded and a dem.

7. So, approx. 25,000 more people voted this election.
And the majority of the votes went to *. What about the overwhelming amount of new democrat voter registrations compared to rethug registrations? It just doesn't make sense that * would get more votes.

It's a college town that I know well. I can't imagine it going for Bush.

10. Imagine it...
Delaware is hardly a college town despite the fact that one is at its core. I think this derives from the fact that the college students and faculty make up such a small portion of the town's residents. There is a significant amount of animosity between the college students and the "townies". I don't think that many of the town's residents appreciate the prosperity and culture that the college brings to their town. Given the large portion of east coasters attending there, I think it's a microcosm for middle America's perception of east coast people as intellectual elitists. Hence, Delaware and Delaware county is staunchly Republican.

11. What is suspicious
Is that such a large county can maintain such high rates of turnout and that such a large county can remain as loyal to b*
Nearly all of the states and counties where b* racked up such large leads were very small. As counties grow -- especially so rapidly, it seems to be stretching credulity to assume that such a high proportion of residents can get and stay registered and that at least some diversity doesn't creep in.
For example, I live in a small county in NY that is rapidly growing -- fastest in the state. It has been for 150 years a hereditary Repug fiefdom for the Fish family. In the past 5 years, as it has grown, it has come to look more like the state and is now a majority democrat.
My suspicion here and in Warren is that someone helped the dead and the moved to vote.:wtf:

12. Delaware Co is Re-pug Heaven
I lived in Westerville which is on the Delaware/Franklin county line for 20 years.

The southern half of Delaware county is the very "well to do" new housing for professionals, and very expensive new housing developments. The norther half is still mostly the traditionally re-pug farmers. There are a few "sane" people, about what the numbers show.

I drove past one of the poling places, a church in the southern part of the county at just before 7am, and the fairly large parking lot was jammed full, and cars backed up onto the street waiting to get in. So yes it was a big turnout.

I do not doubt the numbers in general, but I also would not be surprised if the Bush numbers weren't "helped" by a couple of % points looking at the other races.
