Anyone else like Jonathan Stroud?

I really enjoyed his Bartimaeus Trilogy, but have never picked up his other books (Under Siege, Buried Alive, etc.) and was wondering if they are written in the same style as the Bartimaeus ones. Anyone?

For those who aren't familiar, but who enjoy fantasy, pick up the trilogy... the first one is the Amulet of Samarkand. I was kinda forced into reading the first one because my oldest daughter wanted to read it and the mixed reviews left me a bit apprehensive about it. ("Harry Potter mets Die Hard!") But I enjoyed that first one so much that I didn't sleep at all for wanting to finish it.

All three are narrated by a 5,000-year-old djinni (complete with footnotes to help you with the history stuff) who is summoned by an 11-year-old apptentice magician. The trilogy covers the two and their exploits together... although it's clear the djinni isn't at all thrilled with the partnership.

My son had a hard time reading the first one several years ago. (I think this was due to his vision issues - tracking, etc. - and with all those *footnotes* he kept getting lost as to where he was in the text! anyway . . . )

I've not read anything else by him but I should look for the author since I enjoyed the books so much. Although I really think the first one was better than the other two, and the third better than the 2nd.

Did you think he left the BT open for a 2nd set of books?
