Trying to remember the title of an old sci-fi/fantasy story.
I read when young, so it would have been circa 40's - 60's, i'm guessing.

So far as i remember it, it's just the telling of some average guy's life, but as he lives it, he keeps noticing little things that seem like it's a movie - breaks in continuity, jumps in time, etc.

& the ending is something like he's dying & suddenly sees "finis" written in the sky or something like that - the credits rolling.

ring any bells?

1. Another request - a small sci fi book in which a person thought he went back
in time and lived with prehistoric "people" and actually at the end of the book discovered they were really the future.
